Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara – A Supported Solo Safari Begins

Private Nairobi Pickup

Meet your assigned driver-guide at JKIA, Wilson Airport or a confirmed Nairobi hotel at approximately 6:30–7:00 a.m. The operator will share the guide and vehicle details through an agreed communication channel before departure. Travel 250–280 km via the Great Rift Valley and Narok, normally taking 5–6½ hours plus safe comfort stops. Keep valuables with you and follow the guide’s advice at public stopping points. Arrive between 12:30 and 2:00 p.m. for reception, lunch and check-in at the premium camp.

Your First Private Drive

At about 3:30 p.m., leave on a 2½–3-hour game drive planned around your interests, whether wildlife behaviour, photography or landscape interpretation. Your guide will maintain respectful viewing distances and realistic expectations. Return around 6:00–6:30 p.m. for dinner. Day 2: Maasai Mara – A Full Day at Your Own Safari Pace

Morning Choice

Depart around 6:15 a.m. with a packed breakfast, or request breakfast before leaving when the lodge can accommodate it. A solo private safari allows you to concentrate on preferred subjects without negotiating with unrelated passengers. The guide still controls safe vehicle positioning and all decisions must follow reserve rules.

Personalised Wildlife Route

Continue for about 8–10 hours, pausing for a picnic lunch at an authorised place around 12:30–1:00 p.m. The route may include open plains, marshes, woodland edges or river corridors depending on conditions. If migration herds are seasonally present, the guide may explore relevant areas, but crossings and predator activity remain unpredictable.

A Secure Evening in Camp

Return at approximately 6:00–6:30 p.m. for dinner and overnight. Ask lodge staff for an escort between public areas and your room after dark rather than walking alone, and contact the guide or operator if any practical concern arises.

Refining the Experience

Start at approximately 6:15 a.m. after confirming your priorities with the guide. The second full day provides time to explore a new region or revisit habitat that was productive on Day 2. A solo guest can choose a quiet observation-based drive, photography emphasis or wider wildlife search while still respecting legal hours and the guide’s safety judgement.

Picnic and Continued Exploration

Have a packed lunch at approximately 12:30 p.m. at a designated site. Remain close to the guide and follow instructions whenever outside the vehicle. Continue through the afternoon for a total field time of about 8–10 hours. All sightings are natural, and responsible guiding takes priority over chasing a specific animal or entering congested areas.

Final Night in the Mara

Reach camp around 6:00–6:30 p.m. for dinner and an overnight stay. The guide will confirm luggage arrangements and the next morning’s road departure to Lake Nakuru.

Day 4: Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru – A Comfortable Private Transfer

One-to-One Road Journey

Breakfast begins at approximately 6:30 a.m., followed by check-out around 7:30 a.m. The 235–270 km transfer normally takes 5–6½ hours depending on the Mara gate, weather, road and selected Nakuru property. Your private guide will arrange suitable refreshment, washroom and lunch stops while keeping your belongings secure in the vehicle. Expected arrival is during the mid-to-late afternoon.

Nakuru Arrival Plan

When accommodation is inside Lake Nakuru National Park and arrival permits, begin a 2–2½-hour drive around 3:30 p.m. to explore woodland, grassland and accessible shoreline. If staying outside, check in and rest for the evening; an extra park entry is not automatically included in the schedule. Your guide will confirm the following morning’s meeting time, while reception staff can assist with dining and after-dark escorts. Dinner and overnight are at the premium property.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru Wildlife and Safe Nairobi Drop-Off

Morning Park Experience

Have breakfast around 6:00 a.m., check out and begin a 3–4-hour Lake Nakuru game drive at approximately 6:30–7:00 a.m. Search accessible habitats for birds, buffaloes, giraffes, rhinos and other wildlife without guaranteed sightings. Flamingo distribution changes with water and food conditions. Your guide will keep the itinerary moving while allowing reasonable time for your personal interests.

Confirmed Journey End

Leave the park around 10:30–11:00 a.m. and have lunch in Nakuru or Naivasha at approximately noon. Drive 165–180 km to Nairobi, normally 3–4 hours before severe congestion. Arrival is expected between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. The driver will complete the handover at JKIA, Wilson Airport or your confirmed Nairobi address. Do not accept an unplanned change of vehicle or driver without verifying it through the operator.
