Your adventure begins at Kilimanjaro International Airport where a driver will meet you for a transfer to your hotel in Arusha. The drive takes about one hour and provides views of local life and coffee plantations. This day is for resting and meeting your guide for a short briefing about your 5-day open-vehicle safari. You will discuss the itinerary and safety measures for traveling in an open sided vehicle. Arusha is a peaceful city at the base of Mount Meru, offering a cool climate to help you adjust before heading into the parks.

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire (Full Day Tour)

The journey starts with a drive to Tarangire National Park, which takes about 2 to 3 hours over a distance of 120 kilometers. Tarangire is famous for its giant baobab trees and massive elephant herds. You will spend the full day on a game drive in your open vehicle, allowing you to smell the fresh earth and hear the elephants rumbling. Today you travel north to reach the heart of the Great Migration. The drive covers 140 kilometers and takes 5 hours through rolling hills and woodlands. This part of the 5-day open-vehicle safari focuses on the remote Mara River area. You will spend the afternoon watching the massive wildebeest herds as they gather near the river. Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater (half day tour) to Arusha

You will leave early for the Ngorongoro Crater, which is a 3 hour drive. You will descend into the caldera for a half day tour of this unique ecosystem. This is the best place to find the rare black rhino and complete your Big Five sightings. A highlight of the day is the incredible acoustics inside the crater, which you can appreciate fully in an open vehicle. After lunch near the hippo pool, you will drive 190 kilometers back to Arusha. You will arrive in the late evening for your flight or hotel stay.
