RELATED FAQS ABOUT 5 Days Serengeti Migration Open-Vehicle Safari

What are the benefits of a 5-day open-vehicle safari in Serengeti Migration?

An open vehicle provides an unobstructed 360 degree view of the landscape and wildlife. It is especially beneficial for photographers who need clear angles without glass interference. You also get a better sense of the smells and sounds of the African bush throughout the journey.

Is it safe to travel in an open vehicle during the 5-day open-vehicle safari?

Yes, it is very safe as long as you follow the safety guidelines provided by your guide. The animals are used to the shape of the vehicle and generally ignore it. You should stay seated at all times and keep your arms and legs inside the frame of the vehicle.

Will I get dusty during a 5-day open-vehicle safari in Serengeti Migration?

Since the vehicle has open sides, you will likely experience more dust than in a closed car. We recommend bringing a light scarf or a buff to protect your face and keeping your camera in a protective bag when not in use. Staying hydrated also helps during the drier parts of the drive.

What happens if it rains during the game drive?

Our open vehicles are equipped with high quality waterproof canvas covers that can be lowered quickly if it starts to rain. This ensures that you and your equipment stay dry while still allowing for visibility. Most rain showers in the Serengeti are brief and pass quickly.

    Can I book a 5-day open-vehicle safari as a private tour?

We highly recommend booking a private tour for an open-vehicle experience. This gives you and your group the entire space to yourselves and allows for more flexibility in the daily schedule. A private guide can also focus on your specific interests like birdwatching or big cats.

Is the 5-day open-vehicle safari suitable for children?

Most operators have a minimum age requirement for open-vehicle tours for safety reasons. Typically, children should be at least 10 or 12 years old. This is because children need to be able to sit quietly and follow instructions for long periods during the drive.

What should I wear for an open-vehicle game drive?

Layers are essential because the temperature can be very cool in the early morning and quite hot in the afternoon. Since you are more exposed to the elements, bring a warm windproof jacket, a wide-brimmed hat, and plenty of sunblock. Long sleeves and trousers also help protect against the sun and insects.

Are there many flies or insects in the open vehicle?

You may encounter some insects like tsetse flies in certain wooded areas of the parks. We provide insect repellent in the vehicle and recommend wearing light colored clothing like beige or khaki. Avoiding blue and black colors can help reduce the number of flies attracted to you.

How many people can fit in an open safari vehicle?

Our open vehicles are designed to carry between 4 and 6 passengers comfortably. This ensures that everyone has a great view and plenty of room for their camera gear. The seating is usually tiered so that guests in the back rows can see clearly over those in the front.

Does this 5-day Serengeti Migration open-vehicle safari include airport transfers?

Yes, we provide transfers from Kilimanjaro International Airport to your hotel in Arusha upon arrival. We also provide a return transfer at the end of your safari. This ensures a smooth and stress-free start and finish to your Tanzanian adventure.
