Hiking Time: 4-5 hours, 6km/4 miles After breakfast, we leave the forest glades for rockier terrain and catch a glimpse of Kilimanjaro. The trail opens to moorland with tall grass, leading to Barranco valley. We ascend to Barranco Camp at 4000 meters, where we'll set up camp and spend the night.

Then, we hike across a more level terrain and descend into the Karanga Valley at 4050 meters. At the junction with the Mweka Trail, we continue towards Karanga Camp, where we'll spend the night.

At around 2 am, we start the challenging hike to Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Kilimanjaro and Africa. It takes 5-7 hours to reach the summit, ascending through scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. The hike is done in the dark with a headlamp, and the last hour may have snow. Once at Uhuru Peak (5895 meters), you've reached the summit! After a brief stop, we begin our descent to Mweka Camp, about 5-6 hours away, where we spend the night.
