From Arrow Glacier camp, tackle steep scree and rocky sections, requiring scrambling as you ascend the Western Breach to the crater floor (5700m). This day will be your most challenging yet. In snowy conditions, the route may turn icy, requiring an ice axe or ski stick. Upon reaching the crater rim, be amazed by the snow and glaciers spread out before you. To your left lies Kilimanjaro's Northern Ice fields with the Furtwangler Glacier in view. Walk past the glacier to Crater camp, situated at the crater rim. If time permits, you can even climb to the Ash Pit (1 ½ hours), a remarkably formed 340m wide and 120m deep crater. The campsite is exceptionally cold, with a possibility of snow. Spending a night in Kilimanjaro's inner crater is a rare and rewarding experience.

BARAFU CAMP TO SUMMIT TO MWEKA CAMP

It will take about 2 hours to reach Uhuru Peak from the crater floor, likely encountering snow along the way. The time spent at the summit will depend on the weather. Remember not to linger too long due to the cold and fatigue. After your achievement, head to Barafu camp for a short rest before descending to Millennium camp (3100m) through the moorland and forest
