6 Days Climbing Kilimanjaro Experience Rongai Route

Experience the wonders of Kilimanjaro climbing through the scenic and rewarding 6 days Rongai Route

6 Days CLIMBING KILIMANJARO EXPERIENCE RONGAI ROUTE TOUR ITINERARY

The Rongai route is one of the easier routes up Kilimanjaro. Rongai is the only route to approach Kilimanjaro from the north and the descent is via the Marangu Route. Summit night from Kibo Hut is steep and follows the same path taken by the Marangu route which passes Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak. While it is flatter, it does not give the climb high sleep low option and therefore recommended to select more days for acclimatization. Six days is your best choice to climb Mountain Kilimanjaro.

CLIMB UP KIBO TO SUMMIT THEN DESCEND TO HOROMBO HUT

After a refreshing tea break with cookies, we start our ascent towards the summit. The walk through the desert and glacier zones is a unique experience, as I marvel at the contrasting landscapes. The ground is covered with a layer of fine, white sand, while the ice and snow of the glaciers glint in the sun. As we approach Gilman’s Point, the highest point on the Rongai Route, we are greeted by stunning views of the surrounding peaks. After conquering Uhuru Peak, we start our descent towards Kibo hut campsite. The path is steep, but the thrill of reaching the summit keeps us motivated. As we approach Kibo hut, we are greeted by the warmth and hospitality of the porters and guides, who have been supporting us throughout our journey. We take a much-needed rest at Kibo hut, enjoying a hearty meal and drinks before continuing our descent towards Horombo hut campsite. The path is less steep now, and we can feel our muscles relaxing as we make our way down to horombo hut for overnight.
