After an early breakfast, we drive to the Umbwe Gate (1,800m) to begin our climb. The trail starts in the lush rainforest, and we make our way through dense vegetation, enjoying the sights and sounds of the exotic flora and fauna. Today's hike is relatively short but steep, giving you a taste of the challenging terrain to come. Our first campsite, the Umbwe Cave Camp (2,850m), provides breathtaking views of the valley below.

As the sun rises, we continue our ascent. The path becomes steeper as we leave the forest behind and enter the moorland zone. The scenery changes dramatically, with panoramic vistas of the vast savannah below. We eventually reach Barranco Camp (3,960m), situated in a beautiful valley beneath the impressive Barranco Wall. This section involves some scrambling, adding excitement to your climbing experience.
