Enjoy a 6-day senior-friendly Kenya safari through Samburu, Lake Nakuru and Maasai Mara with a private guide, planned breaks and premium lodging.
This six-day gentle-pace Kenya safari is planned for older travellers who want excellent wildlife variety with clear timing, a private vehicle and practical comfort support. Samburu, Lake Nakuru and the Maasai Mara remain connected by substantial road transfers, so the itinerary includes planned breaks, unhurried boarding and restful premium accommodation. Day 2 uses separate morning and afternoon drives in Samburu, while Day 5 can operate as a full Mara drive or be adjusted into shorter sessions when lodge location and park-entry rules permit. The operator should receive mobility, dietary and medical information before confirming the vehicle and room category. The guide can offer a step stool and reasonable assistance but cannot provide nursing, lifting or clinical care. Wildlife is free-ranging, weather can affect road conditions and every accessibility request must be checked with the selected properties.
An Unhurried Start
Pickup from JKIA or an agreed Nairobi hotel is scheduled around 6:30–7:00 a.m., after the guide confirms luggage, medication and any boarding assistance. Travel 310–330 km through the central highlands, Nanyuki and Isiolo, normally taking 5½–6½ hours plus planned comfort stops. A light step stool can be carried when requested in advance. Reach Samburu at approximately 1:00–2:00 p.m. for lunch, check-in and rest.
Optional First Exploration
Guests feeling comfortable can join a 2–2½-hour drive from about 4:00 p.m. through acacia and riverine habitat. Those tired by the transfer may remain at the lodge without being pressured. Possible wildlife includes elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and birds, but none is guaranteed. Return before dark for dinner, medication routines and a briefing about the next day’s flexible schedule.
Cool Morning Viewing
After tea or coffee, depart around 6:30 a.m. for a 2–2½-hour drive. The guide selects reasonably comfortable roads while exploring the Ewaso Ng’iro corridor and open country. Northern species may be observed, but the pace prioritises safe viewing rather than an exhausting checklist. The vehicle can return earlier if a guest becomes uncomfortable.
Time to Recover
Breakfast follows around 9:00 a.m. The late morning is reserved for rest, hydration and lodge facilities, with lunch near 1:00 p.m. Guests manage their own prescribed medication unless travelling with a qualified caregiver.
Afternoon Choice
At approximately 3:45 p.m., choose a second 2–2½-hour game drive or additional lodge time. The guide assists with steady boarding but does not lift guests. Return by 6:30 p.m. for dinner and early rest before the long journey to Nakuru.
Gentle Farewell
An optional short drive begins around 6:30 a.m. and ends by approximately 8:00 a.m. Guests may instead sleep longer and meet the guide for breakfast. Complete check-out at an unhurried pace, confirm all medication and mobility items, and leave near 9:00 a.m.
Comfort-Conscious Transfer
The 300–340 km journey to the Lake Nakuru area normally requires 5½–7 hours plus lunch and regular comfort stops. Road quality varies, so the guide reduces speed on rough sections. Arrival is expected late afternoon or early evening. Staff assist with check-in, while guests confirm that the allocated room meets previously approved access needs. Enjoy dinner and rest; no late game drive is forced. Anyone with a serious health concern should travel with an appropriate caregiver and comprehensive medical-evacuation insurance.
A Manageable Nakuru Session
Have breakfast near 6:00 a.m., check out and start a 2–2½-hour game drive around 6:45 a.m. The relatively compact park allows woodland, grassland and accessible lakeshore habitat to be explored without an excessively long session. Rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes and birds may be seen, but sightings are never guaranteed.
Rest Stops toward the Mara
Leave around 9:30–10:00 a.m. for the 235–270 km journey via Narok, allowing 5–6½ hours plus lunch and scheduled toilet stops. Rough access roads are driven slowly. Reach the premium Mara camp late afternoon or early evening and settle in before dinner. The guide and lodge team confirm escort procedures after dark, room access and Day 5 options. An afternoon game drive is not added if arrival is late or guests need rest
Comfort-Led Departure
Choose an early start near 6:30 a.m. or a slightly later departure after breakfast, depending on the group’s energy and lodge location. The private vehicle allows brief stretch breaks at authorised safe places. Cushions, layered clothing, water and prescribed medication should remain accessible.
Full Day or Split Sessions
The standard plan is an 8–10-hour drive with a picnic lunch around 12:30–1:00 p.m. Guests who find this demanding may request separate morning and afternoon drives when gate, fee and camp arrangements allow. The guide explores suitable savannah and riverine habitat without guaranteeing predators, migration herds or crossings.
Restful Evening
Return by approximately 6:00–6:30 p.m. Staff assist with safe disembarkation before dinner and a clear departure briefing.
The evening remains deliberately quiet and unhurried.
Careful Check-Out
Breakfast is served around 6:30 a.m. Check the room, medication, travel documents and mobility equipment before leaving at approximately 7:30–8:00 a.m. The guide confirms the exact drop-off and helps with luggage, within safe manual-handling limits.
Journey Back to Nairobi
Drive 250–280 km through Narok and the Rift Valley, generally requiring 5–6½ hours plus lunch and regular comfort stops. Arrival is expected between 2:30 and 5:00 p.m., although traffic may cause delays. Drop-off is available at JKIA, Wilson Airport or an agreed Nairobi hotel or address. A flight after 8:00 p.m. is preferable; a post-safari hotel night is the safer choice for travellers who need extra time, wheelchair assistance or an unhurried airport process.

The Booking Form
Enjoy a 6-day senior-friendly Kenya safari through Samburu, Lake Nakuru and Maasai Mara with a private guide, planned breaks and premium lodging.
N.B: After you send your booking we will get back to you with in 24 hours.
4. Will the guide lift a guest into the vehicle?
No lifting should be assumed. A guide may stabilise a step stool or offer a steady hand, but is not a trained transfer assistant. A guest who requires lifting should travel with a capable caregiver and use equipment approved for their needs.
5. How should medication be handled?
Carry prescribed medicine in original packaging and keep essential doses in hand luggage. Bring enough for delays and follow the prescriber’s instructions. Refrigeration, sharps disposal or timed support must be discussed with the operator and hotels in advance; the guide cannot administer medication.
6. Are toilets available during drives?
Facilities are available at lodges, gates and certain authorised stops, but not beside every wildlife-viewing track. Tell the guide when a stop is needed so a safe facility can be reached. The route can include more frequent breaks, though this may reduce game-viewing time.
7. Must Day 5 be a full-day drive?
No. It can sometimes be divided into morning and afternoon sessions when accommodation location, park access and fees allow. The alternative must be confirmed before departure because a camp outside the reserve may require extra driving and gate formalities.
8. What room features should we request?
Useful features may include ground-level access, minimal steps, a walk-in shower, grab support, a firm mattress and proximity to dining areas. Availability differs, and labels such as “accessible” are not standardised. Request photographs or precise written descriptions when a feature is essential.
9. What insurance is recommended?
Choose comprehensive cover for medical treatment, evacuation, cancellation, delays and pre-existing conditions where applicable. Read exclusions carefully and carry policy contacts. The operator’s emergency support does not replace personal insurance or guarantee free evacuation.
10. Should we fly from Nairobi on Day 6?
An international flight after 8:00 p.m. may be workable, but road delays remain possible. A Nairobi night provides a calmer option and more time for airport assistance. Travellers with mobility support should confirm airline arrangements separately and arrive earlier than the standard check-in minimum.
3. Can a wheelchair user join?
Possibly, but the exact chair dimensions, transfer ability, vehicle access and room features must be assessed. Many safari vehicles are high and reserve terrain is uneven. “Accessible” facilities vary greatly, so written confirmation from every selected property is essential before booking.
1. What makes this safari senior-friendly?
It uses a private vehicle, planned comfort stops, separate Samburu drives, premium accommodation and a flexible Mara day. The guide can allow extra boarding time and slower pacing. “Senior-friendly” does not mean medically supervised, and all mobility needs must be confirmed before payment.
2. Is there an upper age limit?
There is no universal upper age limit. Suitability depends on health, stamina, ability to sit through bumpy drives and access to the selected rooms. Travellers with chronic conditions should seek personal medical advice and disclose practical needs to the operator without sharing unnecessary sensitive details publicly.
