     Distance: 6 km/3.7 miles  Trekking Time: 4-5 hours  Habitat: Alpine Desert Descend to the base of the Great Barranco Wall and then climb the non-technical but steep 900ft cliff. The trail crosses hills and valleys before sharply descending into Karanga Valley (Karanga River), the last water point. After lunch, continue the ascent to Karanga Camp. Short acclimatization walk in the afternoon, followed by dinner and overnight stay.

Clear weather offers views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.

     Distance: 6 km/3.7 miles  Trekking Time: 6-7 hours  Habitat: Arctic Begin the summit push at midnight, the most challenging part of the trek. Ascend in darkness, with short breaks, facing wind and cold weather. Reach Stella Point (18,900 ft/5,730m) at sunrise. Another hour to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. Spend a short time on the summit, then descend to Barafu Camp in about 3 hours. Rest briefly and continue to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight.
