We depart from moshi and make our way to Machame Park Gate. Once there, we complete the necessary registration formalities before starting on our climb. The initial part of the trail takes us through the lush rainforest, following a winding path up a ridge. It's important to note that the trail can be muddy and slippery at lower elevations, so we recommend using gaiters and climbing poles for added stability. Eventually, we reach our destination for the day, the Machame Camp

After a hearty breakfast, we bid farewell to the rainforest and continue our ascent. The trail leads us on an upward path, traversing the valley along a steep rocky ridge. As we progress, the route turns westward, guiding us through a picturesque river gorge until we reach the Shira campsite. This campsite offers breathtaking views and serves as our base for the night.

On day 3, we climb from Shira Camp to Barranco Camp. We start by heading east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. Then, we change direction to the southeast towards the Lava Tower, also known as the Shark's Tooth (elevation: 4650 m/15,250 ft). After the tower, we reach a second junction leading to the Arrow Glacier. From there, we descend to the Barranco Camp. Although we end the day at a similar elevation as the start, this day is crucial for acclimatization and prepares our bodies for the summit day

After breakfast, we leave Barranco Camp and ascend a steep ridge known as the Barranco Wall, passing through the Karanga Valley until we reach the junction connecting with the Mweka Trail. From there, we continue our ascent to the Barafu Camp. This completes the South Circuit, offering various views of the summit from different angles. At Barafu Camp, we set up camp and enjoy distant views of the summit

Start the final push to the summit in the early morning, heading northwest through challenging scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. Take a short rest at Stella Point to witness a breathtaking sunrise. If you're a faster climber, you might catch the sunrise from the summit itself. Expect snowy conditions during the one-hour ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Begin the descent to Mweka Camp, passing through Barafu for lunch. Use gaiters and climbing poles for the loose gravel. Enjoy your last evening on the mountain at Mweka Camp.
