    Today, we hike from karanga campsite to the junction that connects with the mweka descent trail. From there, we continue upwards to reach barafu hut. This marks the completion of the southern circuit, offering beautiful summit views from different angles. At barafu camp, we rest, have dinner, and prepare for the summit day. Mawenzi and kibo peaks are clearly visible from here.

    We begin our trek to the summit at 23:30, starting between the rebman and ratzel glaciers. Heading north-west, we ascend through tough scree towards stella point on the crater rim. This is the most challenging part of the journey. At stella point (5732m), we rest and witness a breathtaking sunrise, weather permitting. Finally, at uhuru peak (5895m), we reach the highest point of mount kilimanjaro and the entire african continent. After descending to barafu for lunch, we continue to mweka hut campsite. It gets cold at night but warm during the day. Trekking poles are essential for the gravelly path to mweka camp (3100m). After a well-earned dinner, we rest for the night.

    Descending from mweka camp after breakfast, we head to the mweka park gate to receive our summit certificates. Lower elevations might be wet and muddy, so gaiters and trekking poles will be useful. Wear shorts and t-shirts, but keep rain gear and warmer clothing ready.
