We start our 6 days Mount Kilimanjaro hiking adventure at Machame Gate. After driving from Moshi, we enter the lush lower slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. As we gradually ascend, you'll experience the diverse flora and fauna of the rainforest. The first Machame camp awaits us at 3,000 meters above sea level. If the weather is clear, we may catch a glimpse of the glaciated dome of Kibo in the evening. The hike takes approximately 6-7 hours from Machame Gate to Machame camp.

This day involves a shorter hike as we ascend a steep ridge to reach a small semicircular cliff known as a picnic site. The hike from Machame camp to Shira Camp takes around 4-6 hours.

After breakfast, we embark on a gentle ascent, enjoying breathtaking panoramic views. We traverse the southwest side of Kilimanjaro, passing beneath the majestic Lava Tower and the final section of the Western Breach. Following a satisfying hot lunch at the base of the Lava Tower (4,600m), we descend to the magnificent Great Barranco valley (3,900m). Walking time: 5-7 hours.

Today, we face a challenging hike up the eastern wall, leading us just below the Heim Glacier. Along the way, we are rewarded with stunning views of Kilimanjaro. Next, we conquer the steep Great Barranco Wall, which separates us from the southeastern slopes of Kibo. Descending into the Karanga Valley, we pause for a short break and a hot lunch. Afterward, we tackle a steep ascent out of Karanga, followed by an easy path over compacted scree, providing vast vistas of this arid and deserted landscape until we reach Barafu Camp. Walking time: 7-9 hours.
