Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut, first hiking day

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your lodge in Moshi and driven to the Marangu Gate. Once you complete the necessary paperwork, your hike will begin, taking you through the dense rainforest. As you hike, you may spot some primates along the way. Your destination for the day is the Mandara Hut, where you will spend the night. Overnight: Mandara Hut Hiking hours: 3-5 hours Elevation (ft): 6,046 ft to 8,858 ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Proceed Hiking from, Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Start your day with an early breakfast before leaving Mandara Hut. As you continue your hike, you will reach the timberline and enter the heath and moor zone. After a few miles, you will arrive at the Horombo Hut, situated at an altitude of 3,700 meters. From here, you will enjoy breathtaking views of Mawenzi, Kibo, and the vast plain of the Masai steppe. Overnight: Horombo Hut Hiking hours: 5-7 hours Elevation (ft): 8,858 ft to 12,205 ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Horombo Hut (Acclimatization Day) to Zebra Rocks back to Horombo Hut

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, an important step to increase your chances of successfully reaching the summit. After a relaxing breakfast, you will embark on a hike to the Zebra Rocks at an altitude of 4,020 meters. These rocks get their name from the distinctive black and white stripes. Upon your return to Horombo Hut, a warm lunch will be waiting for you. You can spend the afternoon resting and regaining your strength for the next day's hike. Overnight: Horombo Hut Hiking hours: 4 hours Elevation (ft): 12,205 ft to 14,400 ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Challenging Hiking from, Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Prepare for a long and challenging day of hiking. The trail passes the "Last Water Point" and continues through the vegetation-less plateau called the "saddle" that connects Kibo and Mawenzi, the two main summits of Kilimanjaro. Your destination for the day is the Kibo Hut, where you will have an early evening meal and rest for the short night ahead. Overnight: Kibo Hut Hiking hours: 6-8 hours Elevation (ft): 12,205 ft to 15,430 ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5: Summit day! Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and descent to Horombo Hut

Today is the summit day, starting around midnight. The ascent will be long and demanding. You will pass the Hans Meyer Cave at 5,220 meters and continue upward until you reach Gillman's Point, located at 5,681 meters on the crater rim. As the sun rises, you will experience the warming rays and soon forget the cold of the night. After 1-2 more hours of hiking, you will reach the highest point, Uhuru Peak, at 5,895 meters. Take in the incredible accomplishment and then descend back to Kibo Hut for a warm meal. After a short rest, continue the descent to Horombo Hut, where you will spend the night. Hiking hours: 6-8 hours to reach Uhuru Peak + 4-5 hours descent to Horombo Hut Elevation (ft): 15,430 ft to 19,341 ft (Uhuru Peak) and then to 12,250 ft (Horombo Hut) Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Final Hike day from, Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate and departure

On the final day, you will hike through the heath and moor zone, descending to the Mandara Hut at 2,700 meters. Enjoy a warm lunch at the hut before continuing through the tropical rainforest. After approximately 6 hours of hiking, you will reach the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate at 1,860 meters. At the park headquarters in Marangu Gate, you will collect your summit certificates. Say goodbye to your mountain guides and transfer back to your hotel in Moshi where you can take a warm shower and celebrate your successful summit of Kilimanjaro.
