Early in the morning, you will set out on the ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro, one of the world's highest freestanding mountains. You will begin at Kibo Hut, which sits at an elevation of 4,700 meters (15,420 feet). From there, you will ascend through steep and heavy scree or snow to Gilman's Point, which is located on the crater rim at an elevation of 5,685 meters (18,700 feet). After a short rest and photo opportunity, you will continue your journey to the summit of Kilimanjaro, reaching the peak of Uhuru Peak at an elevation of 5,895 meters (19,340 feet). After breakfast, you will begin your descent from Horombo Hut back down to the National Park gate at Marangu.
