The adventure begins as we depart early from Moshi to the Umbwe Gate (1,800m). After completing park formalities, we delve into the lush rainforest, where the trail winds through ancient trees and rich flora. The first day's hike will be invigorating; taking us to Umbwe Camp (2,940m) nestled on the edge of the forest. The camp offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Today's hike is a memorable one as we tackle the famous Barranco Wall, an exhilarating scramble that rewards you with jaw-dropping panoramas from the top. We then traverse through the Karanga Valley, known for its diverse landscapes and unique rock formations. Finally, we reach Karanga Camp (4,200m), where we spend the night surrounded by the serenity of the highland wilderness.
As we approach the summit, we ascend through a rocky and arid terrain. The air becomes thinner, making each step more challenging yet thrilling. Reaching Barafu Camp (4,600m), we prepare ourselves for the ultimate challenge – the Uhuru Peak ascent. Take some rest and nourish yourself with a hearty dinner before the midnight summit push.
With headlamps illuminating the way, we begin the final ascent to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak (5,895m). The sunrise from the top is a sight you'll cherish forever. Standing atop the highest peak in Africa, you'll feel an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. After soaking in the breathtaking views, we descend back to Barafu Camp for a well-deserved brunch. Continuing our journey, we trek through the moorland and heather zones to Mweka Camp (3,100m), where we spend our final night on the mountain.
Our last day on the mountain takes us through the enchanting rainforest one last time. As we descend, you'll have a chance to reflect on the incredible experiences and memories made during the past six days. Upon reaching Mweka Gate (1,650m), we bid farewell to Mount Kilimanjaro and receive certificates to commemorate your achievement. A transfer will take you back to Moshi, where you can relax and celebrate your successful Umbwe Route expedition
