Book a 6-Day Luxury Kenya Scenic Road Safari through Mara, Nakuru and Amboseli with private transport, big cats, rhinos, elephants and premium lodging.
Experience Kenya’s changing landscapes and iconic wildlife on this 6-Day Luxury Kenya Scenic Road Safari through Mara, Nakuru and Amboseli. Beginning in Nairobi, the private drive-in and drive-out journey travels through the Great Rift Valley, agricultural highlands, Maasai countryside, lakeside habitats and the open plains of southern Kenya. The Maasai Mara introduces lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and large grazing herds, while Lake Nakuru adds rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes and colourful birdlife. The journey concludes with a complete Amboseli wildlife day featuring large elephant families, seasonal wetlands and possible views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Selected luxury lodges or tented camps provide elegant rooms, quality meals and attentive service throughout the route.
Our professional driver-guide will collect you from your Nairobi hotel, private residence or the airport before beginning the approximately 260–280-kilometre road journey to the Maasai Mara. The drive normally takes five to six hours depending on traffic, road conditions, weather, comfort stops and the location of your luxury accommodation. Along the way, you will pass Great Rift Valley viewpoints, highland farms, roadside towns and increasingly open Maasai landscapes. After arriving at your lodge or tented camp, you will check in, enjoy lunch and rest briefly before beginning an afternoon game drive. Possible attractions include elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes and lions becoming more active as temperatures cool.
After breakfast, you will depart with a picnic lunch and explore approximately 60–100 kilometres of the Maasai Mara over seven to nine hours. The route will be selected according to wildlife movements, recent sightings and reserve-road conditions. Attractions may include lion prides, cheetahs scanning the plains, elephants moving with calves, giraffes feeding near acacia trees and large herds of wildebeest and zebras. Riverine habitats may also reveal hippos, crocodiles and colourful birds. Lunch will be enjoyed at an authorised picnic location before the afternoon safari continues through a different section of the reserve.
After breakfast and lodge check-out, you will travel approximately 230–250 kilometres to the Lake Nakuru region, a drive generally requiring four and a half to six hours. The route introduces changing Rift Valley landscapes, rural settlements, highland farms and scenic escarpments. Suitable lunch, photography, washroom and stretching stops will be arranged along the way. After arrival at your selected luxury lodge, you will check in, enjoy refreshments and spend the remaining time relaxing before the following morning’s wildlife activity.
Your morning begins with a three-to-four-hour Lake Nakuru game drive covering approximately 25–50 kilometres through woodland, grassland and lakeshore habitats. Possible attractions include white or black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, baboons, zebras, pelicans, cormorants and flamingos when seasonal and water conditions are favourable. After the game drive and an early lunch, you will begin the approximately 350–400-kilometre road journey to Amboseli, normally taking seven to eight hours depending on traffic, route conditions and comfort stops. After arrival, you will check in at your luxury lodge or camp and enjoy dinner.
After an early breakfast, you will explore approximately 50–90 kilometres of Amboseli over seven to nine hours. The park’s open plains, seasonal wetlands, acacia woodland and dry lakebed environments may provide sightings of large elephant families, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, lions, hyenas, hippos and numerous birds. Mount Kilimanjaro may appear when cloud and weather conditions are favourable. A picnic lunch or lodge-based midday break will be arranged before the afternoon safari continues through another wildlife-rich area.
After breakfast and check-out, you will begin the approximately 215–240-kilometre journey to Nairobi, normally taking four to five hours depending on traffic and stops. Depending on lodge location and departure arrangements, you may enjoy final views of Amboseli’s elephants, open plains or mountain scenery while leaving the area. A meal, refreshment and comfort stop will be arranged before drop-off at your Nairobi hotel, residence or airport.
