    Day 2: Simba camp to Second Cave (3600m)

    Distance: 7 km / 4.3 miles Estimated Hiking Time: 4 hours Altitude gain: 1000 meters / 3280 feet After a short breakfast, we will continue our journey across the moorlands towards Kibo, passing Second Cave (3450m) en-route. As we ascend, the views start to open up and offer a great view of the water streams below inside the Kikelwa Cave. We will set up camp at Kikelwa Cave Camp, where we can rest and admire the stunning natural beauty.

The trail is steep but offers breath taking views of the wilderness area. We will set up camp at Mawenzi Tarn Camp, which is named after the beautiful tarn lake that reflects the surrounding peaks. This will be a challenging day, but the reward is a stunning view of the mountain range.

    After breakfast, we will commence our ascent to the summit of Kilimanjaro. We will cross the desert-like landscape known as The Saddle, which lies between Mawenzi and Kibo. The trail is relatively flat and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. We will make our final preparations and rest before commencing our hike towards Kibo Hut.

    Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5895m) to Horombo hut

    Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5895m) to Horombo hut

    We commence our hike to the summit of Kilimanjaro at around midnight. Most of the journey follows a path of steep scree towards Gilman's Point on the Crater Rim. This is considered the most difficult part of the journey, but the stunning views of the surrounding landscape make it all worth it. We will have breakfast and lunch at Gilman's Point before continuing on to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. The descent to Stella Point takes approximately 2 hours, and we will then continue our descent to a rest then back to horombo hut for dinner and overnight.

    Day 6: Descend from Horombo hut to Marangu Gate (1980m)

    After breakfast, we will begin our descent from the horombo hut. From here, we will continue our descent to the Marangu Gate, passing through diverse landscapes including rainforest, moorland, and desert. We will arrive at the Marangu Gate, where our journey began, and head back to Moshi. This will be a relatively easy day of hiking, and we will have the opportunity to reflect on our incredible achievement of reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro.
