For a typical 30 December departure, meet the driver-guide at your Nairobi hotel, residence or airport point around 6:30–7:00 a.m. Confirm the festive programme, dietary needs and late-night safety arrangements before travelling 225–280 km toward Maasai Mara. The drive normally takes 5–6½ hours before extended stops, but year-end traffic can add time. Lunch and comfort pauses are organised along the route.

Final Safari Sunset of the Year

After check-in and a short rest, depart around 3:30–4:00 p.m. for a two- to three-hour game drive if arrival and gate schedules allow. Last Wildlife Morning of the Year

Breakfast begins around 6:00 a.m. before departure close to sunrise for six to nine hours of game viewing including lunch. The guide follows productive roads across grassland, woodland and river corridors while respecting animal space and other visitors. Possible encounters range from elephants and giraffes to predators and birds, but the final day of the year carries no guaranteed wildlife performance.

Sunset and Confirmed Countdown

Pause for a picnic at an authorised site or return for a lodge meal according to the celebration plan. Afternoon game viewing ends with enough time to reach the property safely before darkness. After dinner, join only the countdown or entertainment confirmed by the lodge. Fireworks are not assumed and may be inappropriate near wildlife. Guests drinking alcohol must follow property rules and remain within designated areas after dark.

A Fresh Start on the Road

Travel through Narok and the Mau highlands as savannah gives way to cultivated slopes and cooler air. The guide schedules comfort stops and gives realistic arrival updates during busy holiday traffic. Reach the Nakuru property in the late afternoon and check into the premium room. Use the evening for rest, a gentle meal and conversation about intentions for the year. An additional park drive is provided only if confirmed and operationally realistic.

Rhino Country Morning

After breakfast near 6:00 a.m., enter Lake Nakuru National Park for a three- to four-hour game drive. Woodland, grassland, rocky ground and shoreline may support rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, baboons and waterbirds, although sightings depend on nature. Flamingo numbers shift with lake conditions. The morning offers an unhurried way to begin the year through observation rather than a checklist.

Journey to Geothermal Country

Leave Nakuru in the late morning or around noon and travel 85–150 km to Lake Bogoria, allowing two to four hours with lunch. As the route becomes warmer and drier, the volcanic basin creates a dramatic contrast with the Mara. Check in during the afternoon and remain on approved ground around geothermal areas. A private New Year dinner or celebratory drink is included only when the lodge has confirmed it in writing.

A Freshwater Final Night

Depart by late morning for the 150–180 km journey to Lake Naivasha, normally three to four hours before a lunch stop. Arrive during the mid- or late afternoon and check into the premium lodge. Rest beside the freshwater setting or take a prebooked boat trip when the licensed operator approves conditions. A sundowner or special final dinner can be requested in advance, but it is not guaranteed by the package title alone.

Return to Nairobi

Check out around 10:00–10:30 a.m. and travel 90–110 km to Nairobi, typically two to three hours without exceptional traffic. Lunch is arranged in Naivasha or Nairobi depending on flights and accommodation. Finish at an agreed hotel, residence or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with a generous congestion allowance. The safari closes after welcoming the year through wildlife, changing landscapes and time shared in four distinctive ecosystems.
