Although the scenery is not as varied as the western routes, Rongai makes up for this by passing through true wilderness areas for days before joining the Marangu route at Kibo camp. Rongai is a moderately difficult route and is highly recommended for those with less backpacking experience.

    You can feel the excitement building inside you, you have dreamed of this moment for so long, and now it's finally here.The trail takes you from the town of Rongai, which is located in the north of Tanzania, to the Marangu park gate. As you reach the Rongai trailhead, you are greeted by your hiking staff, who are ready to begin your ascent of Kilimanjaro. You are introduced to your fellow hikers, who come from all corners of the world and you all set off together, eager to begin your journey up the mountain. The trail starts off gently, winding through a dense forest of pine trees. You can hear the sound of birds chirping in the branches above you and the scent of the earth is rich and earthy. As you hike higher, the air grows colder, and you begin to feel the altitude. After several hours of hiking, you reach the campsite for the night. You set up your tent and enjoy a hot dinner.

    Day 2: SIMBA CAMP TO SECOND CAVE HIKING

    You are greeted with a breath taking view of the Kibo peak towering above you. The trail is steep and rocky, but the rugged landscape is nothing compared to the incredible views that await you. After several hours of hours, you arrive at the Kikelewa Caves, a network of limestone caves that offer a reprieve from the sun and a chance to rest your weary feet. As you sit down for lunch, you take in the stunning views of Kibo and the ice fields on the crater rim. The air is cool and fresh, and you can feel the energy of the mountain coursing through your veins. After lunch, you continue your ascent towards the jagged peaks of Mawenzi. The trail is steep and rocky, but the views are breath taking. You can see the glaciers glinting in the sun, and the rocky peaks stretching out in all directions. As you reach the campsite for the night, you are exhausted but exhilarated. You set up your tent and enjoy a hot dinner.

    After breakfast, you begin your ascent up the grassy slopes of Mawenzi. The trail is steep, but the views are breath taking. You can see the towering spires of Mawenzi in the distance, and the lush vegetation below. As you hike, you feel the effects of the altitude, but you are determined to push through. You take breaks as needed, drink plenty of water, and focus on the stunning views around you. Finally, after several hours of hiking, you reach the top of the grassy slopes and come face to face with Mawenzi Tarn. The tarn is a small lake nestled in a bowl-shaped valley, surrounded by towering peaks. The water is crystal clear and the views are simply breath taking. You spend the afternoon exploring the area, taking in the stunning views and acclimatizing to the altitude. You can see the ice fields on the crater rim in the distance, and you know that you are one step closer to reaching the summit.As the sun sets, you return to your campsite at Kikelewa Caves.

    You feel a mix of excitement and anticipation. Today is the day you've been preparing for the day you will summit Mount Kilimanjaro. After breakfast, you begin the final ascent to the summit, crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. The trail is steep and rocky, but the views are stunning. You can see the crater rim in the distance, and you know that you are getting closer to your goal. As you hike, you take breaks as needed, drink plenty of water, and focus on the task at hand. You are determined to reach the summit, and you are fuelled by the support of your fellow hikers and the knowledge that you are making a once-in-a-lifetime journey. Finally, after several hours of hiking, you reach Kibo Campsite. The campsite is situated on a rocky outcrop, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. You can see the glaciers glinting in the sun, and the peak of Kibo looming in the distance.

    After a hearty breakfast in the mid night, you begin the final ascent to the summit starting at 1:00am. The trail is steep and rocky and you must navigate through loose volcanic screen as you ascend. The air is thin and cold and you can feel the altitude taking its toll on your body. As the sun rises, you reach Gillman's Point the first stop on the crater rim. The view is breathtaking and you can see the vast expanse of the African plains stretching out below you. You take a short rest to enjoy the spectacular sunrise over Mawenzi. For those who feel strong enough, the journey continues to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. The hike is challenging, but the views are truly awe-inspiring. You can see glaciers and ice cliffs in the summit area and the sense of accomplishment you feel is indescribable. After spending some time at the summit, you begin the descent to Kibo Hut, where you will have lunch and rest. From there you continue down the Marangu route to Horombo Hut for overnig
