Starting on Kilimanjaro north side near Kenya border, it\'s less travelled. Descend via Marangu Route for diverse views. The 3-hour drive from Moshi passes villages, coffee plantations, with permit registration at Marangu. Accessible from Kenya Amboseli National Park too. Today, we will begin our adventure at the Marangu Park gate, where we will register and commence our hike on the Rongai trail. Our first destination is the First Caves Camp, located at an altitude of 2600m.

We will continue our journey across the moorlands towards Kibo, passing Second Cave (3450m) route before reaching Kikelewa Cave. The views will start to open up and offer a great view of the water streams below inside the cave. As we ascend, we will be surrounded by lush vegetation, including a variety of wildflowers, shrubs, and trees.

We will reach the jagged pinnacles of Mawenzi camp at Mawenzi Tarn Camp. The climb will be steep, but the stunning views of the wilderness area will make it worthwhile. The vegetation zone will end shortly before we reach our next camp at Mawenzi, which will be a stark contrast to the lush surroundings we have encountered so far.

We will cross the dessert area known as The Saddle, situated between Mawenzi and Kibo, towards Kibo Hut. This will be our final preparation and rest before we commence our ascent to the summit. With our final destination in sight, we will be filled with excitement and anticipation for the challenges and rewards that await us. The journey to the top of the highest freestanding mountain in the world is a test of both physical and mental strength, and I am excited to embark on this incredible adventure with my fellow hikers.

We will commence our climb to the summit at around midnight, following a path of steep scree towards Gilman's Point on the Crater Rim. This is considered the most difficult part of the journey, but I am confident that with determination and perseverance, we will reach our goal. After a short rest at the summit, we will continue our descent to Horombo Hut, where we will have lunch and a short rest before continuing on to the summit. The views from the top of Uhuru Peak will be breath-taking, and I am sure that the feeling of accomplishment and pride will be worth every step of the journey.

We will begin our descent from the horombo, retracing our steps back to Horombo Hut. From there, we will make our way back to the Marangu Gate and head back to Moshi, marking the end of our incredible adventure on Mount Kilimanjaro.
