Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. This day is for resting and receiving a briefing on the 6-day July safari. Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you drive 120 kilometers to Tarangire National Park, a trip of about 2.5 hours. Tarangire is famous for its massive elephant herds and baobab trees. In July, the park is dry and many animals gather near the river. A surprising moment occurs when you see a pride of lions waiting near a waterhole. You will enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before heading to your lodge for dinner.

You will head north today to track the Great Migration, a drive of 150 kilometers taking about 5 hours. In July, the herds are moving toward the Mara River in the north. You will spend the day following their movement and looking for river crossings. A positive moment for many is hearing the sound of thousands of wildebeest calling to one another. This region offers a rugged and beautiful landscape that feels very wild.
