    On the first day, we start at Umbwe Gate (elevation: 5,249 ft) and hike to Umbwe Camp (elevation: 9,514 ft). The hike takes about 5-7 hours and covers a distance of 11 km (7 miles). We begin with a drive to Machame Gate for registration, and then proceed through villages, coffee and banana plantations to reach Umbwe Gate. The trail goes through a dense rainforest with steep ascents and narrow paths, surrounded by tall trees. Umbwe Camp is nestled amidst trees and thick undergrowth

    Day 2: HIKE UMBWE CAMP TO BARRANCO CAMP

    The second day involves hiking from Umbwe Camp (elevation: 9,514 ft) to Barranco Camp (elevation: 13,044 ft). The hike takes about 4-5 hours and covers a distance of 6 km (4 miles). The terrain becomes rockier with fewer plants and trees covered in moss. As we ascend, we catch glimpses of Kilimanjaro. The path becomes flatter as we approach Barranco Valley. From the Umbwe ridge, we descend through the unique and beautiful Senecio Forest to reach Barranco Camp

    Today, we descend into a ravine and hike the steep Barranco Wall, reaching the top to cross hills and valleys. We then descend into Karanga Valley and hike up to Karanga Camp. This is a shorter day for acclimatization.

    Leaving Karanga, we join the Mweka Trail and continue to the rocky section leading to Barafu Hut. This completes the Southern Circuit, offering various views of the summit. We make camp, rest, and have an early dinner to prepare for the summit day. Mawenzi and Kibo peaks are visible from here

    Day 5: BARAFU CAMP TO UHURU PEAK TO MWEKA CAMP

    BARAFU CAMP TO UHURU PEAK TO MWEKA CAMP

    Start early in the morning, around midnight, for the challenging hike to the summit. The cold and windy conditions make it mentally and physically demanding. After several hours of ascent, you'll reach Stella Point (18,900 ft) and witness a breathtaking sunrise. Finally, you'll reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Descend to Mweka Camp, passing through Barafu for lunch. The trail is rocky and hard on the knees, but hiking poles can help. Expect mist or rain at Mweka Camp.

    Day 6: MWEKA CAMP TO MWEKA GATE

    Descend from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, which takes around 3-4 hours. The terrain is wet and muddy at lower elevations. Collect your summit certificates at the gate and proceed for another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will be waiting there to take you back to your hotel in Moshi.
