After breakfast we head out across the moorland, on a smaller path towards the peaks of Mawenzi. Here the views will start open up and feel the great impact of this mountain. We reach the third cave in a sheltered valley with giant senecios nearby, Kikelewa Camp is our stop for today.

In the morning, we embark on a brief yet steep ascent up grassy slopes, offering rewarding, breathtaking views. We bid farewell to the lush vegetation and make our way to the next campsite, Mawenzi Tarn, positioned at a striking 4330 meters. Nestled in a cirque beneath the imposing Mawenzi spires, this location is truly spectacular. The afternoon is yours to either rest or explore the surroundings, aiding in your acclimatization. For those on an 8-day journey, you have the option to spend two nights here, allowing for additional climb around Mawenzi to further acclimate.

The climb carries on across the lunar-like desert landscape on Kibo's east side, crossing "The Saddle" nestled between Mawenzi and Kibo. After up to 5 hours of climbing, we arrive at Kibo campsite, situated at 4750 meters, nestled at the base of the Kibo crater wall. The remainder of the day is dedicated to rest, vital for gearing up for the ultimate ascent and acclimatizing our bodies.

Around 2 am, under the veil of night, we commence our ascent to the summit. This challenging climb begins in darkness, necessitating headlamps or flashlights. Over steep, snow-covered scree, we reach Gilman's Point at 5861 meters, perched on the crater rim. The journey continues for 2-4 hours to conquer Uhuru Peak, Africa's highest point, rewarding us with unparalleled vistas. Capture the moment with a summit photo, an unforgettable memory. We then descend, pausing for lunch and rest at Kibo hut before pressing on to the Horombo encampment for the night.

Following breakfast, we commence a gradual descent, traversing the moorland to reach the Mandara Hut. At this point, all triumphant summit conquerors will be presented with a well-deserved official certificate, commemorating their remarkable achievement
