Commence on an unforgettable adventure with Kilimanjaro climbing via Rongai route Discover scenic beauty challenges and triumphs of this iconic climb
The Rongai route is a unique and less-crowded approach to Kilimanjaro from the north, near the Kenyan border. It's gaining popularity among climbers looking for an alternative to the busy Marangu route or a remote climb. With less rainfall, it requires a minimum of six days, but seven days are recommended. While the scenery may not be as diverse, the route offers a true wilderness experience before joining the Marangu route. It's highly recommended for less experienced backpackers.
Our adventure begins at Nalemoru Gate, a small village where we will start our trek on the Rongai route. As we embark on our journey, we will pass through picturesque farmland and enchanting pine forests. Keep your eyes peeled, as you might catch a glimpse of the graceful Colobus monkeys or even encounter majestic elephants and buffalos along the way. Our first campsite, Simba Camp, awaits us at the edge of the moorland zone, nestled at an elevation of 2625m. Over the course of the day, we will cover a distance of approximately 8km (5mi), which will take us around 4 to 5 hours to complete. Rest assured, you will be well-fed with delicious meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
