    Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Our day commences with a descent into the base of the formidable Great Barranco Wall, where a non-technical but challenging vertical climb awaits. It's more of a scramble than a traditional climb as we ascend the 900-foot-high Barranco Wall on all fours. Once atop, we traverse a series of hills and valleys before making a steep descent into Karanga Valley, where Karanga Camp awaits. This shorter day filled with ascents and descents allows for proper acclimatization.

On the following morning, we depart Karanga Camp, heading for the Mweka trail and ascending a rocky path toward the high camp, Barafu Hut. This route takes us around the southern circuit, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. We spend time resting and recuperating at the camp, preparing for the midnight summit ascent. The Barafu campsite provides breathtaking views of the twin peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Hut

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Hut

In the wee hours of the morning, around midnight, we embark on the most demanding leg of the trek, testing your physical and mental strength to the limit. We ascend in darkness for several hours, taking brief but frequent breaks, ultimately reaching Stella Point at 18,900 feet to witness the magnificent sunrise over Mawenzi Peak. An additional hour's walk leads us to the summit, Uhuru Peak, standing at 5,895 meters—the highest point in Africa. Following this triumph, we begin a steady descent to the Mweka Hut campsite, stopping at Barafu for a well-deserved lunch. The rocky trail can be particularly challenging for your tired legs and back, already fatigued from the strenuous ascent. Utilize your trekking poles for support and leverage during the descent, especially as Mweka Camp's location in the upper rainforest region makes it prone to mist and late afternoon rain.

Day 7: Mweka Hut to Mweka Gate

On the final day of your unforgettable journey, you'll embark on a steady descent to the Mweka Gate. At the park office, you'll be presented with a certificate commemorating your remarkable achievement of summiting the peak. As you continue your descent, exercise caution on the potentially damp and muddy ground at lower altitudes. Upon reaching the gate, we'll trek for an additional hour to Mweka Village, where a vehicle will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi.
