Today's trek spans 5 hours and approximately 8 kilometers through the Montane Forest. Beginning at Marangu Park Gate, a 3-hour transport leads to the Rongai gate (1,950 m). Keep an eye out for colobus monkeys as you pass cypress plantations. Reach rongai Cave camp (2,600 m) to find your dedicated porters, tents ready, and perhaps a surprise treat of popcorn and a hot drink. Enjoy a refreshing wash, change into dry clothes, and brace for chilly mountain nights. Your overnight stay at simba cave camp includes all meals.

On Day 3, trek for 6-7 hours through the moorland vegetation, passing through heather-covered landscapes. At the camp, enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee, snacks, and a delicious meal prepared by the porters. Settle in for the night in the valley below the saddle, surrounded by small caves. Get a good night's sleep to prepare for the cold nights ahead.

Hot lunch will be served upon arrival at the camp, followed by some rest and exploration of the area. Take advantage of the afternoon to walk around the ridges and towers for stunning views of Kibo. For great acclimatization and breathtaking views of Mawenzi, this is the perfect place. End your day with a spectacular sunset from the campsite and dinner. Overnight at Mawenzi Tarn Camp.

On your last day of Kilimanjaro trekking, a 6-hour journey covering about 27 km through low alpine and Montana forest zones begins after a hearty breakfast at Horombo hut, passing Mandara hut on your descent to Marangu gate where you'll enjoy a brief lunch break, sign the register book to receive either a green certificate for Gillman's Point or a gold certificate for Uhuru Peak, celebrate with singing and dancing either at Horombo hut or the gate, and finally, your driver awaits to take you back to your Planet Lodge in Arusha for a well-deserved hot shower before you can choose to head to the airport for your flight home or have dinner and an overnight stay.
