7 Days Group Joining Midrange Safari in Southern Tanzania Parks

Meet the other travelers and your driver guide in Dar es Salaam at approximately 6:00 AM before beginning the road journey toward Nyerere National Park. Short stops for refreshments and comfort will be arranged during the drive, with arrival expected around midday or early afternoon depending on traffic and road conditions. After lunch and a short break, enter the safari area at about 3:00 PM for your first game drive. The group will explore productive habitats in search of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, hippos and other wildlife while your guide introduces the landscape and explains interesting animal behaviour. Leave the park around 6:00 PM and continue to the selected midrange lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at approximately 6:30 AM, depart with packed picnic lunches for a complete day of game viewing. Your guide will explore different sections of Nyerere, moving between woodland, grassland, lakes and riverine environments where wildlife activity changes throughout the day. The shared safari atmosphere creates plenty of opportunities for the group to exchange experiences while watching elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, antelopes, predators and numerous birds. Around midday, stop at a designated picnic location for lunch before continuing the afternoon drive. Return to your accommodation at approximately 5:30 PM for dinner, rest and conversation with your fellow travelers.

Begin another day inside Nyerere at approximately 7:00 AM, this time concentrating on sections that were not extensively explored the day before. Wildlife never follows a fixed schedule, so each morning can produce completely different encounters. Your guide may spend more time near water sources, open areas or woodland depending on recent animal activity and seasonal conditions. Enjoy lunch in the wilderness around 12:30 PM, then continue through the afternoon in search of new wildlife and photographic opportunities. The game drive finishes in the late afternoon before returning to the lodge for your final night in the Nyerere area.

After breakfast, depart Nyerere at around 7:00 AM for the journey to Mikumi National Park. The transfer provides a chance to see more of rural Southern Tanzania while sharing the road experience with the other members of your safari group. On arrival, have lunch and prepare for an afternoon game drive beginning around 3:00 PM. Mikumi's open landscapes can make wildlife easier to observe, and your guide will search for giraffes, elephants, zebra, wildebeest, buffaloes, antelopes and predators. Continue exploring until approximately 6:00 PM, then head to your midrange accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Breakfast is followed by a departure at approximately 7:00 AM for a full day in Mikumi. Spend the morning exploring the Mkata plains and surrounding woodland, stopping whenever interesting wildlife or birdlife appears. Because the safari is shared, everyone can enjoy different interests, from photography and birdwatching to simply observing animals in their natural habitat. At around 12:30 PM, enjoy a picnic lunch and take some time to stretch before continuing. The afternoon offers another opportunity to search for animals as temperatures begin to cool. Return to the lodge between 5:00 and 5:30 PM for a relaxed evening.

After breakfast at approximately 7:00 AM, leave Mikumi and travel toward Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Upon arrival, meet a local walking guide and receive a short briefing before beginning the day's forest activity. The environment changes completely as the group leaves the safari vehicle behind and enters a world of tropical vegetation, monkeys, birds, butterflies, streams and mountain scenery. Depending on the selected route and group fitness, the excursion may include waterfall viewpoints and longer forest sections, with rest stops arranged naturally along the trail. Finish the main activity during the afternoon and transfer to your midrange accommodation for dinner.

Start the final morning at around 7:00 AM with breakfast followed by a shorter guided nature walk or forest experience. The cooler morning conditions are pleasant for birdwatching and searching for monkeys while enjoying the final hours in Udzungwa. At approximately 10:00 AM, return to the accommodation, collect luggage and begin the road journey toward Dar es Salaam. Lunch and rest stops will be arranged along the way, with arrival expected in the late afternoon or evening depending on traffic.
