Hike Kilimanjaro is a bit difficult as the Umbwe route does not provide enough time to acclimate to the altitude, so proceeding slowly is crucial. While traffic on this route is low, the chances of success are not great unless acclimation days are added. The route is offered for a minimum of 6 days, preferably 7 days.

Under the cloak of night, we set forth (around midnight to 2 am) for the summit, between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. Northwesterly ascent through challenging scree to Stella Point, where a breathtaking sunrise graces us. Faster hikers might catch it from the summit. From Stella Point, a snowy path leads to Uhuru Peak, Africa's zenith! The descent begins, with a stop at Barafu for lunch. Gaiters and hiking poles help navigate the gravel descent. Our day ends at Mweka Camp, marking our last mountain night. Post-breakfast, descend to Mweka Park Gate, where summit certificates await. Lower altitudes might greet you with mud and dampness; gaiters and poles come in handy. Shorts and t-shirts suffice, but keep rain gear and layers within reach. From the gate, another hour's stroll leads to Mweka Village. A waiting vehicle transports you to your Moshi hotel, a brief 30-minute drive.
