This 7-day Kenya cultural safari midrange package combines wildlife viewing, scenic landscapes and responsibly arranged cultural experiences. You will travel from Nairobi to Maasai Mara for an afternoon game drive and two full safari days, with the option of visiting a recognised Maasai community initiative. Your journey will continue to Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli, where you can learn about conservation, pastoral traditions, farming, tourism and the relationship between communities and protected wildlife areas. Our private guide, midrange accommodation and flexible road transport will provide an informative introduction to Kenya’s natural and cultural diversity.
Our guide will collect you from Nairobi between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. before your Kenya cultural safari begins. You will travel approximately 270 kilometres to Maasai Mara over five to six hours, passing the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, Narok town and rural communities. During our journey, the guide will introduce Kenya’s landscapes, communities and the importance of livestock in many rural areas. After lunch, check-in and relaxation, you will leave for an afternoon game drive at approximately 3:30 p.m. Your guide will explain how wildlife conservation and community livelihoods are connected within the greater Mara ecosystem.

After breakfast, you will depart at approximately 6:30 a.m. for an eight-to-ten-hour game drive covering between 60 and 110 kilometres. This part of your Kenya cultural safari will introduce lions, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, buffaloes and grazing herds while our guide explains the relationship between tourism, conservation and pastoral communities. You will visit open grasslands, seasonal streams and river areas before stopping for a packed lunch. Your journey will continue during the afternoon with further wildlife viewing and cultural interpretation.

After breakfast, you will begin another Maasai Mara wildlife drive followed by an optional responsibly organised community visit. Depending on your programme, you may travel approximately 40 to 90 kilometres during six to eight hours of combined wildlife and cultural activities. Community representatives may explain traditional homesteads, cattle keeping, beadwork, clothing, songs and changing family life. You should ask permission before photographing people, homes or cultural activities. After the visit, you will return to the reserve or lodge for further wildlife viewing, relaxation and dinner.

After breakfast at approximately 6:30 a.m., you will check out around 7:30 a.m. Your Kenya cultural safari will continue approximately 240 to 260 kilometres to Lake Nakuru over five to six hours. During the journey, our guide will discuss farming, trade, settlement patterns and everyday life in different parts of the Rift Valley. You will stop for refreshments and photographs before arriving at your midrange lodge for a late lunch. The afternoon will be available for rest and informal discussion before dinner.

You will enter Lake Nakuru National Park at approximately 6:30 a.m. for a three-to-four-hour game drive covering 30 to 50 kilometres. During this stage of your Kenya cultural safari, you may observe rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, baboons and birds while learning about conservation and tourism around protected areas. After breakfast or early lunch, you will check out and drive approximately 75 to 90 kilometres to Lake Naivasha over one-and-a-half to two hours. An optional boat ride or responsibly arranged local activity may be added during the afternoon.

After breakfast and check-out, your Kenya cultural safari journey will continue approximately 330 to 350 kilometres to Amboseli over six to seven hours. Our guide will explain the changing livelihoods, farming activities, towns and landscapes seen along the route through the Nairobi region and Emali. After arriving at your midrange lodge, you will have a late lunch or afternoon meal and rest. Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy a short evening game drive while learning about the wider Amboseli ecosystem and the pastoral communities living around it.

Your final morning will begin with an early game drive at approximately 6:15 a.m. You may cover 30 to 50 kilometres while observing elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and birds. Our guide will explain the importance of water, livestock, wildlife corridors and community conservation in the Amboseli landscape. After returning for breakfast, you will check out and travel approximately 215 to 230 kilometres to Nairobi over four to five hours. Drop-off will be provided at a Nairobi hotel, residence or airport.
