7 Days Kenya Luxury Wildlife Photography Safari from Maasai Mara to Amboseli

Your professional driver-guide will collect you from your Nairobi hotel, residence, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or Wilson Airport between approximately 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM. After a briefing and assistance with your luggage and camera equipment, you will travel through the Great Rift Valley, with an authorised landscape-photography stop arranged when timing and weather permit. The journey continues through highland farms, rural towns and Maasai countryside before reaching your luxury lodge or tented camp. After check-in, lunch and a short rest, you will begin an afternoon photography drive. Possible subjects include lions resting in golden grass, elephants crossing the plains, giraffes feeding beside acacia trees, zebras, antelopes and dramatic evening skies.

After an early breakfast, you will leave with a picnic lunch for a complete photography day. Your guide will select routes according to recent wildlife activity, light direction, road access and your preferred subjects. Possible opportunities include lion-pride interactions, cheetahs using raised ground to scan for prey, elephants travelling with calves, hyenas near feeding areas and large groups of wildebeest, zebras or buffaloes. Lunch will be enjoyed at an authorised picnic location before the afternoon photography continues. The private vehicle allows patient observation and responsible positioning without following the timetable of unrelated travellers.

The second full Maasai Mara day gives you an opportunity to return to productive sightings or explore habitats that were not covered during Day 2. You may travel toward riverine areas for hippos, crocodiles, kingfishers and herons or search wooded drainage lines for leopards and lions. The guide may also concentrate on environmental portraits, bird photography, silhouettes or wide savannah landscapes. A picnic lunch or lodge-based midday break can be arranged according to lodge location and the confirmed programme. The additional day reduces pressure and improves the chance of working with different weather, wildlife movement and light conditions.

After breakfast and lodge check-out, you will travel toward Lake Nakuru through pastoral areas, farming regions, highland towns and changing Great Rift Valley scenery. Your guide will arrange safe photography, refreshment and washroom stops along the route. Lunch will be served en route or after arrival, depending on the day’s timing. Once you reach your luxury accommodation, you will check in, organise your equipment, back up photographs and prepare for the following morning’s rhino and woodland photography session. A Lake Nakuru afternoon drive is only possible when arrival time, park-entry arrangements and accommodation location permit it.

Following an early breakfast, you will begin a three-to-four-hour Lake Nakuru photography drive through woodland, grassland and lakeshore environments. Possible subjects include white or black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, baboons, zebras, pelicans, cormorants and flamingos when natural conditions are favourable. After returning from the activity, you will check out, enjoy lunch and travel to Lake Naivasha. Depending on arrival time and the confirmed package, you may enjoy a late-afternoon boat photography safari or relaxed lakeside photography around the lodge.

Your morning may include a boat photography safari lasting approximately one to one and a half hours when it was not completed on Day 5 and is included in the package. Possible subjects include hippos, African fish eagles, pelicans, cormorants and calm water reflections. After breakfast or the boat activity, you will check out and travel toward Amboseli through Nairobi’s outskirts and southern Kenya’s open landscapes. Meal, refreshment and comfort stops will be arranged along the way. You will normally arrive in the late afternoon or early evening, check in at your luxury lodge and prepare for the final wildlife experience.

Depending on park-entry validity, lodge location and the confirmed departure programme, you may enjoy an early-morning photography drive before beginning the journey to Nairobi. Possible subjects include elephant families, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, wetland birds and mountain landscapes. After completing the wildlife activity, you will travel to Nairobi, with a meal and comfort stop arranged before final drop-off.
