7 Days Kenya Wildlife Safari with Premium Accommodations

Book a 7-day Kenya wildlife safari with premium accommodations in Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli from Nairobi.

Seven Wildlife-Rich Days from Maasai Mara to Amboseli

This 7-day Kenya wildlife safari with premium accommodations explores Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli through a varied journey across savannah, woodland, freshwater and wetland habitats. Three nights in Maasai Mara provide two complete days for observing wildlife behaviour without rushing between destinations. Lake Nakuru offers opportunities to search for rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes and birds, while Lake Naivasha provides a relaxed lakeside interval with an optional guided boat excursion. Amboseli completes the safari with elephant country, productive wetlands and possible views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Premium lodges and tented camps provide comfortable rooms, quality meals and welcoming spaces for relaxation after each drive. Our driver-guide will use wildlife movement, weather, habitat and recent information to plan each activity responsibly. Animals roam freely, so no individual species, predator encounter, migration event or Kilimanjaro view can be guaranteed.

Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara – Enter Kenya’s Great Wildlife Country

Nairobi to Maasai Mara – Enter Kenya’s Great Wildlife Country

Journey to the Mara
Pickup from JKIA or your Nairobi hotel is scheduled between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. The journey to Maasai Mara covers 270–300 km and requires 5½–6½ hours excluding extended stops. You will descend through the Great Rift Valley, pass Narok and continue towards your selected reserve gate. Our guide will provide comfort breaks and explain the day’s expected arrival time.

First Savannah Game Drive
After lunch, check-in and a short rest at your premium lodge or tented camp, depart at around 3:30 p.m. for an introductory game drive. The Mara’s plains may reveal elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, lions, cheetahs, hyenas and diverse birdlife. Sightings depend on natural animal movement and accessible roads. Return near sunset for dinner, relaxation and a briefing about the following day.

Maasai Mara – Full-Day Big Game and Predator Safari

Wildlife during the Cooler Hours
Breakfast is served at approximately 6:00 a.m., followed by departure between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. The guide will explore grasslands, seasonal watercourses and riverine habitats while searching responsibly for mammals and birds. Cooler morning conditions may produce active wildlife, but the route will remain flexible.

Behaviour across the Plains
Possible encounters include elephants feeding, antelopes maintaining vigilance, giraffes browsing and predators resting or moving through their territories. The safari will focus on natural behaviour instead of crowding animals or pursuing guaranteed sightings. A picnic lunch will be served at an authorized location between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.

Afternoon Exploration
Continue through another section of the reserve during the afternoon. The guide will interpret tracks, calls, habitat and visible behaviour while respecting reserve rules. Return to your premium accommodation between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. for dinner.

Maasai Mara – Rivers, Plains and Seasonal Wildlife

A Different Side of the Mara
Your second full day begins after breakfast at approximately 6:30 a.m. The guide may explore a different section of the reserve, visit a river corridor or return to a productive habitat identified the previous day. Two complete days provide greater flexibility when wildlife movement or weather changes.

Wildlife beyond the Famous Five
The day may reveal warthogs, topis, elands, mongooses, jackals, hippos, crocodiles and numerous raptors alongside larger mammals. Migration herds may enter the wider Mara ecosystem during certain months, but their exact location and river crossings cannot be predicted. Lunch is served at an authorized picnic site between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.

Final Mara Evening
The afternoon drive continues until approximately 5:30–6:00 p.m. Return for dinner, a comfortable night and preparation for the following morning’s transfer to Lake Nakuru.

Driving requires 5–6½ hours, depending on the Mara gate, weather, road conditions and traffic. Comfort stops will be arranged while the landscape changes from open plains to agricultural highlands and Rift Valley country.

Premium Nakuru Stay
Lunch will be served during the journey or after arrival. Check into your premium lodge or camp during the afternoon and enjoy time to rest. If daylight, park access and accommodation location permit, an introductory game drive may be arranged. Otherwise, use the afternoon to enjoy the lodge facilities and prepare for an early start. Day 5: Lake Nakuru Rhinos and Lake Naivasha Wildlife

Lake Nakuru Rhinos and Lake Naivasha Wildlife

Nakuru’s Protected Habitats
Enter Lake Nakuru National Park between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. after breakfast. The three- to four-hour drive explores grassland, acacia woodland, rocky viewpoints and accessible lakeshore areas. Our guide will search for white or black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, baboons and birds. Flamingo concentrations vary with water and feeding conditions.

Freshwater Naivasha
Continue 70–100 km to Lake Naivasha, requiring 1½–2 hours depending on your accommodation. After lunch and check-in, spend a relaxed afternoon near the lake. An optional approved boat excursion may reveal fish eagles, cormorants, kingfishers, waterbirds and hippos observed from a responsible distance. Boating depends on weather and operator safety approval. Guests must follow lodge rules because wild animals can enter unfenced lakeside grounds.

The Southern Journey
Breakfast begins at approximately 6:30 a.m. before departure between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. The drive to Amboseli covers 310–360 km and takes 6–7½ hours, excluding lunch, comfort breaks and Nairobi-area traffic. Our guide will keep you informed throughout this longer transfer.

First Amboseli Game Drive
After arriving at your premium camp or lodge, check in and rest briefly. If daylight and park access allow, begin an introductory game drive at approximately 4:00 p.m. Amboseli’s wetlands, acacia areas and open plains may reveal elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, antelopes, hippos and waterbirds. Kilimanjaro can appear behind the park when clouds clear, but visibility is weather-dependent. Return near sunset for dinner.

The cooler hours provide another opportunity to observe elephants and other animals moving between feeding areas and water sources. Your guide will explore accessible habitats without blocking animals or leaving authorized tracks.

Return to Nairobi
Return to the lodge for breakfast and check out between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. The journey to Nairobi covers 215–240 km via Emali and takes 4–5 hours, excluding lunch and city traffic. Drop-off can be arranged at JKIA, Wilson Airport or a Nairobi hotel. Select a late-evening international flight or reserve an additional Nairobi night to protect against road delays and avoid a rushed airport connection.

RELATED FAQS ABOUT 7 Days Kenya Wildlife Safari with Premium Accommodations

    1. What does premium accommodation mean?

Premium accommodation generally offers comfortable en-suite rooms or tents, quality meals, attentive service and attractive locations. Standards and facilities vary between properties. Your final quotation will identify each lodge or camp rather than relying only on the word “premium.”

    2. Is this safari private?

A private vehicle and driver-guide can be included and will be clearly stated in your booking confirmation. Private transport provides greater flexibility during game drives and transfers. Lodge restaurants, lounges and other facilities may still be shared.

    3. Are Big Five sightings guaranteed?

No. Lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes and rhinos live freely across large ecosystems. The guide will use experience and recent information to search responsibly, but no operator can ethically guarantee every species or control where an animal appears.

    4. When can we see the Great Migration?

Migration herds may enter the Maasai Mara ecosystem during parts of the year, but timing changes with rainfall, grazing and river conditions. Even during the commonly visited migration season, crossings and specific herd locations cannot be guaranteed.

    5. Are all game drives full-day activities?

Days 2 and 3 are planned as full Maasai Mara game drives. Other destinations use shorter drives because they also include transfers. When lodge location and park arrangements allow, a full-day activity may be divided into morning and afternoon drives.

    6. Is the Lake Naivasha boat ride included?

The boat excursion is optional unless it appears in your confirmed quotation. It depends on weather, water conditions and the operator’s safety assessment. Life jackets are compulsory, and the boat guide’s instructions must be followed around wildlife.

    7. What type of safari vehicle is used?

The journey normally uses a safari-configured 4x4 vehicle with viewing windows and a roof designed for wildlife observation. Exact vehicle style and seating capacity will be stated in the quotation. Luggage should be packed in soft-sided bags whenever possible.

    8. What should I pack?

Bring neutral clothing, comfortable closed shoes, a warm fleece, sun protection, insect repellent, binoculars and a camera. Also carry personal medication, spare batteries, memory cards and a light rain layer. Avoid hard-sided luggage when vehicle storage is limited.

    9. Are dietary requirements accommodated?

Most premium lodges can manage common dietary requirements when notified in advance. Provide detailed information about allergies, intolerances or religious restrictions before confirmation. Kitchens may not guarantee completely separate preparation environments for severe allergies.

    10. Can this wildlife safari be extended?

Yes. You may add extra Maasai Mara nights, a private conservancy, Samburu, Ol Pejeta, Tsavo or a beach extension. Domestic flights, balloon safaris and specialist guides can also be discussed, subject to availability, routing and additional costs.
