On the first day, after a short drive, we reach the Machame trailhead at approximately 5,380 feet. Once the climbers and crew have completed the necessary check-in procedures with the park rangers, our climb begins. We venture through the enchanting montane forests, ascending through the mossy jungle terrain. As we make our way, the lush surroundings offer a serene and picturesque atmosphere. Today, we embark on a long day of climbing, designed to facilitate acclimatization. Our route involves climbing to higher altitudes and then descending to sleep at a lower level. We set off on an acclimatization climb to Lava Tower, situated at around 15,190 feet, where we pause for a rejuvenating lunch. Following the break, we descend to the Barranco valley, nestled amidst remarkable scenery. If time and weather permit, there's even an opportunity to scramble up Lava Tower itself. Throughout the day, we pass through distinct zones of the mountain, each displaying its own unique charm. Climbing Time: 6-8 hours Overnight Altitude: Approximately 13,044 feet

Our path takes us up the steep Barranco Wall, an exciting challenge. We then traverse several ridges and valleys, experiencing a variety of terrains, until we finally reach Karanga camp. If time permits, there may be an opportunity for an afternoon acclimatization climb, further enhancing our preparation for the summit. Today, we continue our circuit around the mountain, approaching the final camp before the summit - Barafu camp. The route encompasses ups and downs along ridges and valleys, offering diverse landscapes to traverse. Upon arrival at Barafu camp, we enjoy an early supper and rest for a few hours in preparation for the summit ascent, which begins late at night. Our summit day commences around midnight, with the aid of headlamps to guide our way. The ascent is deliberate and unhurried due to the altitude, requiring us to dress warmly to combat the cold. Slowly but surely, we make our way towards Stella Point and eventually reach the summit. Upon reaching this incredible milestone, we celebrate with photos, savoring the triumph and the panoramic views. The descent follows, leading us to Mweka camp. From there, we embark on the drive back to Moshi, where a hot shower and a celebratory dinner await us.
