We start by driving from Moshi to Marangu Gate to obtain summit permits. Then, we embark on a short road trip to reach the Rongai Gate trailhead. Along the way, we pass corn and potato fields and ascend gently through forested areas. These forests are home to diverse wildlife, including black and white colobus monkeys.

Today's hike will be steep but relatively short. We'll be traversing a grassy slope as we enter the Alpine Desert zone. After exiting the wilderness, we'll reach the picturesque Mawenzi Tarn, where we'll set up camp for the night. You can spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring the beautiful surroundings. The elevation gain will be significant, reaching 4,350 feet, and the terrain will be characterized by the Alpine Desert.

Today, we will spend the entire day hiking along the Mawenzi Ridge, taking in breathtaking views of Kibo and Mawenzi. This extra day is dedicated to acclimatization, as we gradually ascend to higher elevations. After exploring the ridge to the fullest, we will head back to Mawenzi Tarn to set up camp for the night. The hike will take approximately 1-2 hours, and the terrain will be characterized by the Alpine Desert.

Today, we'll begin our ascent to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro as we trek from Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut. This section of the hike will take us through the Alpine Desert, where we'll be surrounded by stunning landscapes and unique wildlife. The hike will be approximately 8 km long, taking us from 14,160 ft to 15,430 ft, and will take us 5-6 hours. Once we reach Kibo Hut, we'll have the rest of the day to relax and prepare for the summit day.

Today, we will begin our ascent to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro as we trek from Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak. This section of the hike will be the most challenging part of the journey, as we will climb in the darkness with short and frequent breaks. Once we reach Uhuru Peak, which stands at an elevation of 19,341 ft, we will be rewarded with one of the most stunning views of the sunrise coming over the Mawenzi Peak. We will then ascend all the way to the roof of Africa and the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro, the Uhuru Peak. After celebrating our accomplishment at the peak, we will descend down to Horombo Hut. Later in the evening, we will have our last dinner in the mountain and go to sleep.

We will begin our final day of hiking as we trek from Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate. This section of the hike will be mostly downhill through the tropical rainforest, where we'll have the chance to see unique wildlife and lush vegetation. We will then reach Marangu Gate, where we will collect our summit certificates and be met by our driver, who will take us back to the hotel in Moshi.
