In the heart of the night, between midnight and 2 am, we commence the final ascent towards the summit, threading our way between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. Heading northwest, we navigate steep scree terrain towards Stella Point on the crater rim, a mentally and physically demanding stretch. At Stella Point, we pause for a brief rest, reaping the rewards of an awe-inspiring sunrise—one of nature's finest spectacles, while the swifter climbrs might catch this view from the summit itself. From the summit, our descent begins, leading straight down to Mweka Camp with a pit stop at Barafu for lunch. For the loose gravel descent, gaiters and climbing poles may come in handy. We arrive at Mweka Camp to relish our final night on this remarkable mountain.
