Your safari begins when your private driver-guide collects you from your Arusha hotel after breakfast. You will travel through Mto wa Mbu, continue across the cultivated Karatu highlands and enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The scenery gradually changes from settlements and farmland to volcanic landscapes, grasslands and remote wildlife country. After lunch, your journey continues toward Ndutu, where January rainfall often produces fresh grazing areas for wildebeest, zebras and gazelles. Your first game drive begins as soon as you reach the main wildlife zone. Your guide will search open plains, seasonal marshes and woodland edges for migration herds, elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs and hyenas. You will later proceed to a luxury lodge or tented camp for check-in, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Full-Day January Migration Tracking in Ndutu

After an early breakfast, you will begin a full-day exploration of the Ndutu ecosystem. Your guide will use fresh tracks, recent wildlife information, rainfall patterns and grazing conditions to choose the most productive route. Depending on the movement of the herds, you may explore the Lake Ndutu surroundings, Lake Masek, the short-grass plains or woodland corridors connecting Ndutu with Southern Serengeti. January can provide impressive views of wildebeest and zebras spread across the green landscape, while predators monitor the grazing animals from nearby grass or raised ground. Your private vehicle allows you to remain longer at meaningful sightings and enjoy photography without following a shared group timetable. Lunch will be served at an approved picnic area before the afternoon game drive continues in softer light. You will return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Ndutu Wildlife Corridors and Predator Country

Your second full day in Ndutu allows you to explore wildlife areas that may not have been covered on Day 2. You may begin near woodland habitats where elephants, giraffes and browsing antelopes are often found before continuing toward open grazing plains. Having another complete day increases your opportunity to see changing herd behaviour, predator movement and different landscape conditions. You may observe wildebeest travelling in long lines, zebra families feeding together, cheetahs scanning from raised ground or hyenas patrolling the edge of the migration. Lunch arrangements will follow the wildlife plan and may include a picnic in the field or a lodge break when practical. The afternoon offers additional opportunities for birds, predators and wide landscape photography before you return to your luxury accommodation for dinner.
Day 4: Ndutu Game Drive to Central Serengeti
Distance: Approximately 80–110 kilometres, depending on the route
Driving and Game-Drive Time: Around 5–7 hours
Attractions: Southern Serengeti Plains, Naabi Hill region, kopjes and Central Serengeti
Experience: Half-day Ndutu safari followed by a scenic wildlife transfer
You will begin the morning with a final half-day game drive around Ndutu. Your guide may return to a productive herd location or search for wildlife activity that developed overnight. After the morning exploration, you will continue north toward Central Serengeti. The transfer operates as a game drive, allowing stops for lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and plains animals encountered along the route. As you approach Central Serengeti, the landscape becomes increasingly characterised by rocky kopjes, river valleys, woodland and permanent water sources. These habitats support wildlife throughout the year and create a different safari experience from the seasonal Ndutu Plains. You will arrive at your luxury Central Serengeti lodge or tented camp during the late afternoon, followed by check-in, dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Full-Day Central Serengeti Wildlife Safari

Attractions: Seronera Valley, kopjes, river habitats, lions, leopards and elephants
Experience: Complete Central Serengeti game drive
After breakfast, you will begin a full-day exploration of Central Serengeti. Your guide may visit the Seronera Valley, rocky kopjes, river corridors and woodland areas that support resident animals throughout the year. You will search for lions resting near rocky outcrops, leopards using riverine trees, cheetahs crossing open grassland and elephants moving between woodland and water. Giraffes, buffaloes, hippos and numerous antelope species may add further variety. A picnic lunch will keep you close to the wildlife, although a lodge lunch may be arranged when practical. During the afternoon, you will continue through different habitats in search of animal behaviour and warm-light photography. You will return to your luxury Serengeti accommodation for dinner and your second night in Central Serengeti.
Day 6: Central Serengeti Game Drive to Ngorongoro
Distance: Approximately 140–170 kilometres
Driving Time: Around 4–6 hours with wildlife stops
Attractions: Seronera wildlife, kopjes, open savannah and Ngorongoro highlands
Experience: Half-day Serengeti game drive and scenic transfer to Ngorongoro
Your morning begins with a final half-day game drive across Central Serengeti. Your guide may return to a productive big-cat area or search for wildlife activity near river systems and kopjes. After lunch, you will begin the journey toward Ngorongoro through the Serengeti Plains and conservation landscapes. Wildlife sightings may occur along the route, allowing suitable stops where timing and regulations permit. The scenery gradually changes from open savannah to elevated slopes and forested highlands. Temperatures become cooler as you approach the Ngorongoro region. You will check in at your luxury highland lodge or tented property for dinner and overnight, preparing for the extended crater safari on the following morning.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater Safari and Return to Arusha

Experience: Extended crater game drive and scenic return journey
After an early breakfast, you will travel to the crater descent road and enter Ngorongoro Crater for an extended wildlife experience. Your guide will explore open grasslands, freshwater areas, forest sections and the surroundings of Lake Magadi in search of lions, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, elephants, hippos, hyenas and antelopes. The crater’s enclosed geography and diverse habitats create an impressive final safari day. You will stop for a picnic lunch at an authorised location while enjoying views of the caldera. After completing the game drive, you will ascend to the rim and begin the journey through Karatu, Mto wa Mbu and the Great Rift Valley toward Arusha. Arrival is expected during the evening, marking the end of your seven-day January migration safari.
