Our guide will collect you from Nairobi between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. before your midrange birdwatching safari in Kenya begins. You will travel approximately 270 kilometres to Maasai Mara over five to six hours, passing the Great Rift Valley viewpoint and Narok town. Our guide may point out roadside raptors, storks and other birds where stopping is safe. After lunch, check-in and relaxation at your midrange lodge, you will leave at approximately 3:30 p.m. for an introductory birdwatching drive. Possible sightings include secretary birds, kori bustards, crowned cranes, rollers, larks and vultures.

Day 2: Full-Day Maasai Mara Birdwatching Safari

Full-Day Maasai Mara Birdwatching Safari

You will wake up around 5:45 a.m., have breakfast and depart at approximately 6:30 a.m. for an eight-to-ten-hour birdwatching safari. Your vehicle may cover between 60 and 110 kilometres across open plains, seasonal streams, acacia woodland and river habitats. Our guide will help you identify raptors, bee-eaters, hornbills, lapwings, storks, vultures and grassland species while also searching for lions, elephants, giraffes and buffaloes. A packed lunch will be enjoyed at a designated picnic location before your afternoon birding session continues.

Day 3: Second Full-Day Maasai Mara Birding Experience

Second Full-Day Maasai Mara Birding Experience

After breakfast, your birdwatching safari in Kenya will continue with another full day in Maasai Mara. You may travel between 60 and 100 kilometres while exploring habitats not covered on the previous day. The extra day allows time to search for smaller, seasonal or less obvious species and observe relationships between predators, scavengers and birds. Our guide may explore riverbanks, grasslands, wooded sections and areas where vultures and eagles gather. A picnic lunch will be served inside the reserve before the afternoon activity continues.

Day 4: Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru

You will have breakfast at approximately 6:30 a.m. and check out around 7:30 a.m. Your midrange birdwatching safari will cover approximately 240 to 260 kilometres to Lake Nakuru over five to six hours. Our guide may identify roadside birds and include suitable stops for refreshments and habitat observation. After arriving at your lodge, you will have a late lunch and relax. You may spend the evening reviewing your checklist, organising photographs and discussing the Lake Nakuru species you hope to observe.

Your Lake Nakuru birdwatching experience will begin at approximately 6:30 a.m. and continue for three to four hours, covering around 30 to 50 kilometres. You may observe pelicans, cormorants, storks, herons, fish eagles, kingfishers and seasonal flamingos, together with rhinos and giraffes. After breakfast or early lunch, you will check out and travel approximately 75 to 90 kilometres to Lake Naivasha over one-and-a-half to two hours. During the afternoon, an optional boat trip may provide sightings of fish eagles, pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers and other freshwater birds.

You may begin the morning with an optional one-to-two-hour lakeshore birding walk or boat activity before breakfast. You will then check out and travel approximately 330 to 350 kilometres to Amboseli over six to seven hours. During our journey, the habitats will change from Rift Valley highlands to drier southern plains. After arriving at your midrange lodge, you may enjoy a short afternoon birding and wildlife drive depending on arrival time. Amboseli may provide opportunities to observe egrets, herons, crowned cranes, raptors, ostriches and other wetland or dry-country species.

Your final birdwatching safari in Kenya will begin at approximately 6:15 a.m. and last around three hours. You may cover 30 to 50 kilometres while exploring wetlands, open plains and acacia habitats. Our guide will search for waterbirds, raptors, ostriches, bustards, storks and smaller species alongside elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and hippos. After returning for breakfast, you will check out and travel approximately 215 to 230 kilometres to Nairobi over four to five hours. Drop-off will be available at your hotel, residence or airport.
