7 Days Premium Christmas Safari and Rift Lakes Celebration

Celebrate Christmas on a 7-day premium Kenya safari through Maasai Mara, Nakuru, Bogoria and Naivasha, with festive lodge arrangements confirmed.

Celebrate Christmas across Maasai Mara and Kenya’s Beautiful Rift Lakes

Make the festive season memorable with a 7-day premium Christmas safari across Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Bogoria and Lake Naivasha. Three nights in the Mara provide an atmospheric setting for shared wildlife adventures, while the Rift Valley lakes add forest, geothermal and freshwater scenery to the holiday journey. The starting date is selected so Christmas Eve or Christmas Day falls at the preferred lodge rather than being left to chance, and the final confirmation identifies the exact property and celebration location. Festive meals, decorations, music, cake, children’s activities or a gala dinner are never assumed: they are included only after the lodge confirms what it will operate for that season and any supplement is accepted. Our private 4×4, experienced driver-guide and scheduled meal stops keep the road itinerary organised during a busy travel period. Wildlife and flamingo movements remain natural, creating a genuine Christmas in Kenya rather than a staged sighting programme.

Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara for a Festive Safari Welcome

Nairobi to Maasai Mara for a Festive Safari Welcome

The Holiday Journey Begins
Your private guide collects you from a Nairobi hotel or agreed city address at approximately 6:30 a.m. Once luggage and the dated Christmas plan are checked, you drive 225–275 km to the Maasai Mara, usually five to six hours excluding stops and depending on the booked gate and lodge. The road crosses the Rift escarpment and Narok area, with a comfort break at a suitable facility. Lunch is provided en route or after arrival.

Christmas in the Savannah
After check-in and a brief rest, you begin a two- to three-hour game drive at around 3:30 p.m. The Mara’s wide plains offer an uplifting first chapter, with possible elephants, giraffes, antelopes and predators but no guaranteed sightings. Back at the lodge before dark, staff explain any confirmed festive programme. Decorations, welcome drinks or themed dinner appear only when listed by the property. You enjoy dinner and your first overnight stay in the Mara.

Day 2: Full-Day Maasai Mara Festive Wildlife Adventure

Full-Day Maasai Mara Festive Wildlife Adventure

A Gift of Wild Space
Breakfast is served from about 6:00 a.m., followed by departure near 6:30 a.m. Our guide chooses a productive route through accessible grassland, riverine vegetation and acacia country, allowing time for animal behaviour rather than racing between vehicles. Lions, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs and many herbivores inhabit the ecosystem, but Christmas does not change the uncertainty of wildlife. Families and couples can share the experience while respecting quiet viewing and reserve rules.

Picnic on the Plains
Around 12:30 p.m., you stop for a festive-season picnic at a designated area or use a confirmed lodge-lunch plan. The afternoon continues for a total outing of seven to nine hours including breaks. If this date is Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, the return may be brought forward slightly for a pre-booked lodge programme, provided game-drive and permit arrangements remain workable. Arrival around 5:00–5:30 p.m. is followed by a confirmed dinner, which may be standard or festive according to the property.

Day 3: Maasai Mara Christmas Wildlife and Shared Moments

Maasai Mara Christmas Wildlife and Shared Moments

A New Mara Chapter
After breakfast around 6:15 a.m., your guide explores another sector when roads and conditions permit. One day might favour open plains and distant horizons, while this outing may follow marshes, drainage lines or river woodland. Guests can spend time photographing wildlife, watching birds or simply enjoying the landscape together. Migration herds and river crossings remain seasonal and unpredictable, so the day celebrates the ecosystem as it is rather than chasing a promised spectacle.

Time Together in Nature
Lunch is enjoyed at an authorised picnic area near 12:30 p.m. The afternoon provides a second complete Mara experience of about seven to nine hours including breaks, with comfort and family needs discussed throughout. If a confirmed Christmas lunch, sundowner or evening entertainment falls on this date, the guide coordinates a timely return without claiming the lodge will offer services it has not listed. You reach camp near 5:30 p.m., refresh and gather for the verified evening meal or celebration.

Day 4: Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru during the Holiday Season

Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru during the Holiday Season

A Bright Road Morning
Breakfast begins at approximately 6:30 a.m., followed by check-out and departure around 7:30 a.m. A wildlife-viewing transfer toward the gate may be possible, subject to its location and permit timing. The drive to Lake Nakuru covers around 220–250 km and usually takes five to six hours excluding stops. Holiday traffic can affect the schedule, so our guide leaves a sensible margin rather than promising a rigid arrival minute.

Christmas beside the Rift Valley
Lunch is arranged on the road or after arrival around 1:30–2:30 p.m. You check into the confirmed Nakuru-area accommodation and have time to rest after the transfer. A short game drive is offered only if park entry, daylight and group energy make it worthwhile; the main activity remains tomorrow morning. Any seasonal dinner or décor at this property is stated in the final booking, including supplements. Otherwise, you enjoy the lodge’s normal dinner and a quiet holiday evening.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru Christmas Safari and Lake Bogoria Retreat

Lake Nakuru Christmas Safari and Lake Bogoria Retreat

Wildlife around the Lake
After breakfast around 6:15 a.m., you explore Lake Nakuru National Park for approximately three to four hours. The wooded and bushy landscape may reveal rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes and waterbirds, while flamingo numbers depend on lake conditions and regional movement. Your guide includes suitable viewpoints and explains how the lake and surrounding ridges create a protected wildlife setting. The morning remains a genuine game drive, not a scheduled animal performance.

North for a Quiet Celebration
Following lunch, the journey continues roughly 100–150 km to the Lake Bogoria area. Travel takes two and a half to four hours depending on the selected lodge, entrance and road. On arrival, you check in, cool down and review geothermal safety. If this is the principal Christmas date, dinner arrangements will already be confirmed, whether a standard menu, festive buffet or supplemented event. Nothing is added verbally at the last moment without clear pricing and lodge approval.

Day 6: Christmas at Lake Bogoria and a Naivasha Lakeside Evening

Christmas at Lake Bogoria and a Naivasha Lakeside Evening

Rift Valley Wonder
Breakfast is planned for about 6:30 a.m., followed by a two- to three-hour guided visit to accessible areas of Lake Bogoria National Reserve. You observe the alkaline shoreline, escarpment and geothermal activity from authorised safe ground. Flamingos may create beautiful colour when conditions attract them, but numbers can change quickly. Children remain beside supervising adults, and nobody touches hot water or crosses barriers for a photograph.

Festive Freshwater Arrival
You then travel 150–180 km to Lake Naivasha through the Nakuru corridor, normally three to four hours excluding lunch and rest stops. The cooler freshwater surroundings create a restful final festive setting, with arrival around 3:30–5:00 p.m. Check-in is followed by leisure time and a confirmed dinner. A private meal, cake, décor or entertainment can be requested early, but it becomes part of the package only when the lodge accepts and prices it in writing.

Day 7: Lake Naivasha Christmas Morning and Nairobi Return

Lake Naivasha Christmas Morning and Nairobi Return

One Last Holiday Memory
After breakfast around 7:00 a.m., a pre-booked boat ride of about one hour may be taken with a licensed local operator. Life jackets are compulsory, and departure depends on weather, water and safe boarding. You may see hippos at a respectful distance and observe fish eagles or other birds. A land-based morning is available if boating is unsuitable. Any Christmas-day timing is coordinated around the lodge’s confirmed meal or check-out policy.

Homeward with the Story
You check out and depart near 10:30 a.m. for the 90–100 km drive to Nairobi, usually one and a half to two and a half hours before traffic delays. Festive-season congestion can extend the trip, so airport transfers use a generous buffer. Lunch is arranged according to the final drop-off plan. Our guide leaves you at an agreed Nairobi hotel, city address or airport terminal, ending seven days of wildlife, lakes and carefully verified celebration.

RELATED FAQS ABOUT 7 Days Premium Christmas Safari and Rift Lakes Celebration

    1. Which dates should the Christmas safari operate?

The dates depend on where you want to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We work backward from that preferred lodge and provide a dated itinerary before payment. Booking early improves accommodation choice during the busy season.

    2. Is a Christmas gala dinner included?

Only when the selected lodge confirms the event, menu and supplement in writing. Some properties offer a gala, others serve an enhanced buffet and some keep their regular meal plan. The quotation states exactly what has been secured.

    3. Will the lodges have decorations and entertainment?

These vary by property and year. We can request information about decorations, music, children’s activities or cultural performances, but none is promised until confirmed. Programmes can also change for operational reasons.

    4. Can we arrange a private Christmas dinner?

A private setup may be requested, subject to space, weather, staffing and an extra charge. The lodge decides where food can be served safely, especially in wildlife areas. Written confirmation is required before it appears in the package.

    5. Is this safari good for families?

Yes, when ages, room needs, child seats and activity restrictions are shared in advance. Adults remain responsible for supervising children around wildlife, boats and geothermal areas. Family rooms and festive programmes depend on availability.

    6. What weather should we expect?

December can bring warm periods, sunshine and short rains, with cooler mornings at higher elevations. Tracks may become muddy and travel times can change. Pack light rain protection, sun care and a warm layer rather than relying on one forecast.

    7. Are migration river crossings likely at Christmas?

Major Mara River crossings are generally associated with the seasonal migration period, not a fixed Christmas programme. Resident wildlife remains throughout the year. We do not advertise a December crossing guarantee.

    8. Can special dietary needs be included in the festive meal?

Requests are sent to every lodge in advance, but the exact festive menu may be set. Guests should disclose allergies clearly and reconfirm ingredients on site. Severe-allergy medication remains the traveller’s responsibility.

    9. Why do festive prices differ from normal dates?

Many lodges apply peak-season rates, minimum stays or compulsory meal supplements. Vehicle, room and activity availability can also tighten. The final quotation itemises confirmed costs so the celebration does not create surprise charges.

    10. What if a festive event changes after booking?

We communicate any material lodge update and seek the closest practical alternative. Wildlife activities and core accommodation remain the focus, but entertainment schedules belong to the property. Refund or substitution terms follow the supplier’s confirmed policy.
