Day 1: Arusha to the February Calving Plains

Arusha to the February Calving Plains

Your private safari begins when your guide collects you from Arusha after breakfast. You will travel through Mto wa Mbu and Karatu before entering the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with comfort and lunch stops arranged along the route. Your guide will explain how rainfall and nutritious grass attract pregnant wildebeest toward the southern plains. After reaching Ndutu, you will begin your first half-day game drive in search of mothers, young calves, zebras, gazelles and predators. The private vehicle allows patient observation around vulnerable wildlife without following a shared timetable. You may see calves nursing, resting or attempting to keep pace with their mothers before arriving at a premium lodge or luxury migration camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full-Day Calving Herds and Young Wildlife

Full-Day Calving Herds and Young Wildlife

After breakfast, you will begin a complete game-drive day focused on mothers, calves and herd behaviour. Your guide will use fresh tracks, current wildlife information and grazing conditions to locate productive maternity areas. You may observe calves nursing, running, resting or gaining coordination as they follow larger herds. Zebra foals and gazelles may share the grasslands, while cheetahs, lions, hyenas and jackals monitor the herds. A premium picnic lunch will be served at an authorised site, allowing you to remain in the field. The afternoon continues with responsible observation, photography and birdwatching before returning to your premium accommodation.

Day 3: Predator Activity Across the Calving Grounds

Predator Activity Across the Calving Grounds

Your second full Ndutu day begins early, when predators may still be active. The guide will search open plains, woodland edges and drainage lines for cheetahs, lions, hyenas and jackals, using vultures, alarm calls and nervous herd movement as clues. A hunting event cannot be guaranteed, but the extended safari allows time to observe territorial movement, resting behaviour and interactions between predators and prey. Your guide will maintain responsible distances and avoid disturbing vulnerable animals. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the wildlife area before the afternoon drive continues through productive calving habitats. You will return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Lake Ndutu, Lake Masek and Seasonal Wildlife

Lake Ndutu, Lake Masek and Seasonal Wildlife

After breakfast, you will explore lake environments and surrounding woodland. Lake Ndutu, Lake Masek and nearby vegetation may provide waterbirds, elephants, giraffes, jackals and wildlife moving between water, grazing and resting areas. This habitat variety introduces different scenery from the open calving plains. A picnic lunch allows you to remain near current wildlife activity. During the afternoon, your guide may return to a productive maternity area, follow newly located herds or revisit predators discovered earlier. You will later return to the premium lodge or camp for refreshments, dinner and your final full night in Ndutu.

Ndutu Morning Safari and Transfer to Central Serengeti

Your morning begins with breakfast followed by a half-day game drive across Ndutu. This final calving-season session may focus on mothers and calves, predator territories or wildlife not encountered during the previous days. After lunch arrangements, you will begin travelling toward Central Serengeti. The route gradually changes from seasonal plains to permanent savannah habitats, kopjes and river valleys. Wildlife may be encountered throughout the journey, including elephants, giraffes, resident antelopes and big cats. The transfer functions as an extended game drive rather than a simple road journey. You will arrive at a premium lodge or luxury tented camp in Central Serengeti for dinner and overnight.

RELATED FAQS ABOUT 7 Days Premium February Calving, Central Serengeti and Ngorongoro Safari

    1. Why is February important in Ndutu?

February commonly offers favourable grazing for wildebeest mothers and calves. Exact timing depends on rainfall and grass conditions. Young wildlife may attract predators and scavenging birds. Several Ndutu game drives improve opportunities for observing natural behaviour.

    2. Is a live wildebeest birth guaranteed?

No. Births occur across a wide area and at unpredictable times. You may observe very young calves, mothers nursing or calves attempting to stand and move. The guide will avoid disturbing vulnerable animals.

    3. Are predator hunts guaranteed?

No. Hunts and kills are natural events that cannot be scheduled. The itinerary provides time to observe predator territories, movement and interactions with herds. Ethical guides never bait or chase wildlife.

    4. Why travel to Central Serengeti after Ndutu?

Central Serengeti adds permanent river systems, kopjes and resident big-cat territories. It complements Ndutu’s seasonal calving environment. The transfer also provides changing scenery and additional wildlife opportunities.

    5. Is the safari private?

Yes. The vehicle and professional guide are dedicated to your booking. No unrelated passengers will be added. This provides flexibility for photography, comfort stops and wildlife observation.

    6. Is Day 6 mostly driving?

Day 6 includes a focused Central Serengeti game drive before travelling to Ngorongoro. Wildlife may also be observed during the transfer. The day combines safari activity with the journey toward the crater.

    7. Is the crater visit a full day?

Yes. Day 7 is dedicated to a full crater game drive before returning to Arusha. An early descent provides enough time to explore several habitats and enjoy a picnic lunch inside the caldera.

    8. What accommodation is included?

Premium lodges or luxury tented camps are used in Ndutu, Central Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Exact properties depend on availability. Priority is given to en-suite facilities, quality meals and practical wildlife access.

    9. Can children join?

Yes, when the selected properties accept their ages. Parents should prepare children for predator-prey behaviour and long transfer sections. A private vehicle allows schedule adjustments when practical.

    10. Can the safari be extended?

Yes. Additional Central Serengeti time, another Ngorongoro night, Tarangire or Zanzibar may be added. Extensions create a slower pace and more wildlife variety. Additional fees apply.
