Explore a 7-day premium January Ndutu, Central Serengeti and Ngorongoro Safari with private game drives and luxury accommodation.
Experience three outstanding Northern Tanzania wildlife environments on this 7-Day Premium January Ndutu, Central Serengeti and Ngorongoro Safari. Beginning in Arusha, your private journey travels through the Great Rift Valley and Ngorongoro highlands before reaching the green seasonal plains of Ndutu. January rainfall commonly encourages wildebeest, zebras and gazelles to gather around fresh grazing areas, while lions, cheetahs, hyenas and jackals follow the moving herds. Three complete Ndutu game-drive days provide time to track migration wildlife, explore lake environments and search predator territories without rushing. On Day 5, you will enjoy another Ndutu safari before travelling to Central Serengeti, where kopjes, river valleys and permanent wildlife habitats provide a new safari environment. The journey then continues to Ngorongoro, followed by a complete crater game drive and return to Arusha. Premium accommodation, a private 4×4 vehicle and personalised guiding create a refined, wildlife-rich adventure.
Your premium safari begins when your private driver-guide collects you from your Arusha hotel after breakfast. You will travel through Mto wa Mbu and continue toward the Karatu highlands, where a comfort and refreshment stop may be arranged before entering the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The route passes through dramatic highland scenery before opening toward Ndutu’s seasonal plains. After lunch, you will begin your first half-day game drive in search of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, giraffes, elephants and predators following the migration. January herds may be concentrated around fresh grazing or distributed across a broad landscape, making flexible tracking especially valuable. You will later continue to a premium lodge or luxury tented camp for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, you will depart for a complete game-drive day across the Ndutu ecosystem. Your guide will use current wildlife information, fresh tracks, rainfall patterns and grazing conditions to choose the most productive route. Depending on herd movement, you may explore Lake Ndutu, Lake Masek, seasonal marshes, open short-grass plains or woodland corridors. Long lines of wildebeest and zebras may be observed feeding across the fresh grass, while cheetahs use open ground and lions or hyenas remain closer to woodland edges and concentrated prey. A premium picnic lunch will be served at an authorised location, allowing you to remain close to wildlife throughout the day. The afternoon continues with migration tracking, birdwatching and landscape photography before returning to your accommodation.
Your second full Ndutu day begins early, when predators may still be active and temperatures remain comfortable. The guide may search cheetah territories, lion resting areas, hyena routes and places where nervous herd movement suggests nearby predator activity. Extended time in one ecosystem allows patient observation instead of rushing between reported sightings. You may observe wildebeest groups changing direction, zebra families protecting young animals, predators communicating or scavenging birds gathering over an area of interest. A hunting event cannot be guaranteed, but stalking, territorial movement and interactions between predators and prey can be equally rewarding. A picnic lunch will be served in the wildlife area before your afternoon game drive continues through open plains and woodland habitats.
After breakfast, you will explore habitats beyond the main migration plains. Lake Ndutu, Lake Masek and surrounding woodland may provide waterbirds, giraffes, elephants, jackals and wildlife moving between grazing, water and resting areas. These environments create different photography backgrounds and help reveal the full diversity of the Ndutu ecosystem. Your guide may spend the morning near the lakes before following current migration information back toward the plains. A premium picnic lunch will be enjoyed at an approved location, and the afternoon may include herds, predators, raptors and quieter woodland routes. You will return to the premium accommodation for dinner and your final full evening in Ndutu.
Your day begins with breakfast followed by a half-day game drive across Ndutu, giving you one more opportunity to follow the migration, photograph predators or search for species not encountered earlier. After the morning safari and lunch arrangements, you will begin the journey toward Central Serengeti. The landscape gradually changes from seasonal short-grass plains to the wider savannahs, kopjes and river systems of the Seronera region. Wildlife may be encountered throughout the transfer, turning the drive into an extended game-viewing experience. Possible sightings include elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs and resident herbivores. You will arrive at a premium Central Serengeti lodge or luxury tented camp for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, you will begin a focused half-day game drive in Central Serengeti. The Seronera Valley, surrounding kopjes and river habitats support resident wildlife throughout the year, offering opportunities for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and diverse birdlife. Your guide will choose the route according to recent sightings and your interests, with time for photography and patient observation. After the morning game drive and lunch, you will leave Central Serengeti and travel toward Ngorongoro through open plains and conservation landscapes. Wildlife may still be encountered during the transfer. You will arrive at a premium lodge near the crater rim or in the Karatu highlands for dinner and overnight.
Your final day begins early as you descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a complete wildlife experience. The crater floor contains open grasslands, wetland environments, Lerai Forest and Lake Magadi, creating habitats for lions, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, elephants, hippos, hyenas and numerous birds. Your guide will explore different sections of the caldera while explaining how the enclosed landscape supports resident wildlife throughout the year. A picnic lunch will be served at an authorised site, commonly near a wetland or scenic location. After completing the crater game drive, you will ascend and begin the journey through Karatu and Mto wa Mbu toward Arusha. Hotel drop-off during the evening concludes your seven-day premium safari.

1. Why combine Ndutu, Central Serengeti and Ngorongoro?
The route provides seasonal migration wildlife, resident Serengeti predators and the concentrated ecosystem of Ngorongoro Crater. Each destination offers different scenery and animal behaviour. Seven days create enough time to experience all three without reducing the safari to brief transfers.
2. Is January suitable for Ndutu?
January is excellent for green scenery, migration herds and early calving activity. Herd location depends on rainfall and fresh grazing. Three full Ndutu days plus two additional half-day drives provide strong flexibility for following wildlife movement.
3. Is the safari private?
Yes. The standard package includes a private 4×4 safari Land Cruiser and a dedicated professional guide. No unrelated travellers will be added. This provides flexibility for photography, comfort stops and wildlife observation.
4. Can wildlife sightings be guaranteed?
No specific animal or migration concentration can be guaranteed. Wildlife moves naturally according to rainfall, food, water and predator pressure. Your guide will use current information and professional tracking to select productive routes.
5. What makes Central Serengeti different from Ndutu?
Ndutu is strongly influenced by seasonal rainfall and migration movement. Central Serengeti contains more permanent river systems, kopjes and resident wildlife territories. It is particularly valued for year-round big-cat opportunities.
6. Is Day 6 only a transfer day?
No. Day 6 includes a focused Central Serengeti game drive before travelling to Ngorongoro. Wildlife may also be observed during the transfer. The day combines resident Serengeti habitats with changing landscapes toward the conservation area.
7. Is Ngorongoro a full-day game drive?
Yes. Day 7 is dedicated to a full crater game drive before returning to Arusha. The early descent provides time to explore several habitats. The return journey begins after the crater experience.
8. What accommodation is used?
The safari uses premium lodges or luxury tented camps in Ndutu, Central Serengeti and the Ngorongoro area. Priority is given to en-suite accommodation, quality meals, comfortable bedding and practical wildlife access. Exact properties depend on availability.
9. Is this safari suitable for photographers?
Yes. Ndutu offers green migration landscapes, Central Serengeti adds kopjes and resident predators, while Ngorongoro provides crater scenery and wetland backgrounds. A private vehicle allows greater equipment space and longer observation.
10. Can Zanzibar be added?
Yes. A Zanzibar beach extension may follow the safari. Domestic flights, airport transfers and accommodation can be arranged. Several beach nights are recommended after the active road safari.
