7 Days Premium Solo Kenya Safari: Mara to Naivasha

Travel confidently on a 7-day premium solo Kenya safari through Maasai Mara, Nakuru, Bogoria and Naivasha with a private guide and flexible pace.

A Private Seven-Day Kenya Journey Designed around One Traveller

Created for an independent guest, this 7-day premium solo Kenya safari combines the security of an experienced private driver-guide with the freedom to shape stops and game-viewing pace around one traveller. Starting in Nairobi, the journey spends three nights in the Maasai Mara before continuing to Lake Nakuru, Lake Bogoria and Lake Naivasha. There is no need to match the interests of an unfamiliar group: you can focus on wildlife behaviour, photography, birds or simply quiet observation, while all changes remain subject to park rules and safe travel times. Single-room accommodation is requested throughout, and the final quotation states any single supplement clearly. Our office maintains operational contact with the guide, confirmed pickups are shared in advance and long transfers include planned rest breaks. Wildlife, migration activity and flamingo numbers remain natural and unpredictable. The package is ideal for a solo traveller who wants privacy without being unsupported.

Day 1: Private Nairobi Departure and Maasai Mara Introduction

Private Nairobi Departure and Maasai Mara Introduction

A Confirmed Start
Your driver-guide meets you at the pre-agreed Nairobi hotel or address at about 6:30 a.m., verifies the itinerary and helps secure your luggage in the 4×4. The 225–275 km road journey to the Mara normally takes five to six hours excluding stops, depending on the camp and gate. You can request sensible comfort or photography pauses without negotiating with a tour group. Lunch is served on the route or after arrival, according to timing.

Your First Game Drive
After a personal check-in and rest, the afternoon drive starts near 3:30 p.m. and lasts around two to three hours. You can tell the guide whether you prefer birds, big mammals, landscape photography or general viewing, though animal location determines the actual route. The vehicle stays on authorised tracks and avoids pressuring wildlife. You return before dark, receive the next-day briefing and enjoy dinner at your Mara accommodation.

Day 2: Personalised Full-Day Maasai Mara Safari

Personalised Full-Day Maasai Mara Safari

Following Your Interests
Breakfast is available from approximately 6:00 a.m., followed by departure near 6:30 a.m. Your guide builds the day around current conditions and your interests, perhaps spending longer with animal behaviour or moving on when a sighting feels crowded. The Mara supports predators, elephants, buffaloes and plains game, yet no individual sighting is guaranteed. A solo arrangement offers flexibility, but it never overrides reserve regulations or the guide’s safety judgement.

Quiet Time in the Wild
A packed lunch is enjoyed at a designated location around 12:30 p.m., with time to stretch and speak with your guide about the afternoon plan. Game viewing continues for a total of seven to nine hours including breaks, possibly through grassland, woodland and river habitats. Seasonal migration herds may be present, but crossings cannot be timed. You return to camp around 5:30 p.m., and staff can escort you after dark where lodge procedures require it.

Day 3: Deeper Maasai Mara Exploration at a Flexible Pace

Deeper Maasai Mara Exploration at a Flexible Pace

A Fresh Route
After breakfast around 6:15 a.m., you set out for a second full day with freedom to choose a new emphasis. Weather, road condition and wildlife reports may lead toward a marsh, open plain or river corridor different from yesterday. You may ask questions without feeling hurried, pause for composition changes or simply observe quietly. Your guide balances those preferences with ethical distances and consideration for other visitors.

Space to Observe
Lunch is planned at approximately 12:30 p.m. in an authorised picnic area. The afternoon gives another opportunity to study interactions among herbivores, scavengers and predators or to notice smaller details such as tracks and bird calls. The full outing generally runs seven to nine hours including the meal stop. If you prefer an earlier return, this can be discussed when permit rules and lodge distance allow. Dinner follows after arrival near 5:30 p.m.

Day 4: Solo Road Journey from Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru

Solo Road Journey from Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru

Supported Transfer
Breakfast begins around 6:30 a.m., followed by check-out and departure close to 7:30 a.m. Our office and accommodation team know the day’s travel plan, while your guide remains your single operational contact on the road. The Mara–Nakuru route is about 220–250 km depending on the gate and lodge and normally takes five to six hours excluding stops. You can keep valuables and medication in a day bag inside the vehicle.

An Easy Arrival
The journey crosses upland country before descending toward Nakuru, with a scheduled comfort stop and lunch en route or after arrival around 1:30–2:30 p.m. A short park drive may be possible if daylight, permit timing and accommodation position are favourable; it is not forced after a tiring transfer. You check into a confirmed single room, receive dining and security information, then have private time before dinner.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru Game Drive and Lake Bogoria Transfer

Lake Nakuru Game Drive and Lake Bogoria Transfer

A Compact Wildlife Haven
You begin breakfast at about 6:15 a.m. and spend roughly three to four hours exploring Lake Nakuru National Park. Your guide searches the woodland, bushy grassland and lakeshore for rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes and birds without promising a particular result. A solo guest can concentrate on a chosen subject, but vehicle position remains safe and considerate. Flamingo numbers change naturally as lake conditions vary.

Comfortably Northward
After leaving the park and taking lunch, you continue to the Bogoria area between noon and 1:30 p.m. The usable route measures roughly 100–150 km and may take two and a half to four hours depending on entrance, lodge and road. Stops are made at staffed, suitable places rather than isolated points. On arrival, your guide assists with check-in, confirms dinner arrangements and briefs you on clothing, water and geothermal safety for the reserve visit.

Day 6: Guided Lake Bogoria Visit and Naivasha Retreat

Guided Lake Bogoria Visit and Naivasha Retreat

Safe Geothermal Discovery
After breakfast near 6:30 a.m., your guide accompanies you through accessible areas of Lake Bogoria National Reserve for about two to three hours. You view the alkaline lake, hot springs and escarpment landscape from authorised, stable ground, following every ranger or guide instruction. Flamingos are mobile and may appear in changing numbers. As a solo traveller, you are never expected to approach geothermal features or wildlife alone for a photograph.

A Calmer Lake Evening
You then drive 150–180 km toward Lake Naivasha through the Nakuru corridor, normally three to four hours excluding lunch and rest stops. The landscape softens from Bogoria’s dry basin to highland farms and freshwater vegetation. Arrival is usually between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m. Your guide completes check-in at the confirmed single room and explains lodge movement rules, particularly near the lakeshore after dark. Dinner and the evening are at leisure.

Day 7: Private Lake Naivasha Morning and Nairobi Drop-Off

Private Lake Naivasha Morning and Nairobi Drop-Off

Choose the Final Experience
Breakfast is served at about 7:00 a.m. A pre-confirmed one-hour boat ride can be arranged with a licensed operator, life jacket and weather check, or you may select a quieter lodge morning. Hippos and waterbirds may be observed from a safe distance, never approached. A Crescent Island walk is available only when booked, operating conditions permit and you are comfortable joining the local guide.

A Direct Finish
After check-out, you leave near 10:30 a.m. for the 90–100 km drive to Nairobi. The journey usually takes one and a half to two and a half hours, but city traffic can extend it. Lunch is coordinated with your hotel, city plans or flight schedule. Drop-off is at one confirmed Nairobi location; airport service is timed separately with a generous check-in buffer. Your guide remains with you until the agreed handover point.

RELATED FAQS ABOUT 7 Days Premium Solo Kenya Safari: Mara to Naivasha

    1. Is Kenya suitable for a first-time solo safari traveller?

A privately guided itinerary can be a reassuring first experience because the same professional handles daily driving, park entry and activity coordination. Pickup points and contacts are confirmed before departure. Guests must still follow normal travel precautions and lodge instructions.

    2. Will I share the safari vehicle?

This version is designed as a private safari unless your quotation states otherwise. The vehicle, guide and daily pace therefore serve your booking alone. Any shared boat or lodge activity will be identified before confirmation.

    3. How are single-room charges handled?

Lodges usually price rooms differently for single occupancy, producing a single supplement. We request a private room at every property and show the confirmed cost in the quotation. Room category remains subject to availability.

    4. Can I change the game-drive focus each day?

Yes, you can discuss photography, birds, landscapes or general wildlife with the guide. Routes still depend on weather, track access, wildlife movement and park rules. Material itinerary changes that affect permits or accommodation require office approval.

    5. What happens if I feel unwell

Tell the guide immediately, even if symptoms seem minor. The team can help contact the lodge, insurer or appropriate medical provider, but guests should carry prescribed medication and comprehensive travel insurance. Serious decisions follow professional medical advice.

    6. Is there support outside game-drive hours?

Lodges have reception or duty contacts and may require staff escorts after dark. Our operations contact and your guide’s details are shared for the safari. Wi-Fi and mobile coverage vary, so continuous connectivity cannot be promised.

    7. Can a woman travel alone on this package?

Yes. Confirmed collection, a private guide, reputable accommodation and clear after-dark procedures support women travelling alone. As with any destination, avoid isolated walks, do not disclose room details publicly and follow local staff guidance.

    8. May I bring professional camera equipment?

Yes, provided it fits safely in the vehicle and complies with airline baggage rules. Carry dust covers, spare batteries and secure storage. Drone use is not assumed and requires specific legal and protected-area authorisation.

    9. Will I have to dine alone?

That choice depends on the lodge layout and your preference. Some properties offer individual tables, communal dining or room-service options, but these must be checked property by property. Your guide can explain arrangements on arrival.

    10. Can the last day connect with an international flight?

It can when the departure time leaves a generous buffer for traffic and airline check-in. A same-day flight that is too early creates unnecessary risk, so an extra Nairobi night may be advised. Flight details must be shared before booking transfers.
