The small winding path crosses maize fields before entering pine forest, and then we climb gently through a forest. The trail is not steep, but is rather a gentle hike through a beautiful countryside. The first night’s camp is at Simba Camp (2626m). We will wake up at around 23h20, have some tea and biscuits, and begin our ascent. The first section of the trail leads to the Hans Meyer Cave (5150m), a good resting spot, before continuing to the rocky path that zigzags up to Gillman's Point (5681m), which is located on the crater rim. This section of the trail is very steep, with a lot of stone scree, requiring a great physical and mental effort.     The Rongai Route offered me a beautiful and well-paced journey up Kilimanjaro. It was less crowded, scenic, and perfect for a comfortable climb. The support team made the experience smooth, and the summit sunrise was magical. An unforgettable trek from start to finish.
