The culmination of your Kilimanjaro expedition begins at midnight as you set out for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak. Guided only by the light of your headlamp, the next six hours will test your endurance and determination. The initial part of the climb, leading to the crater rim at Stella Point, is the most challenging stretch of the entire trek. The journey from Stella Point to Uhuru Peak is relatively gentle, making it less physically demanding. However, the high altitude does make the hike feel long and demanding. The crater rim hike lasts approximately one hour. Upon reaching Uhuru Peak, capture the moment with photos of your guide and group against the backdrop of this iconic summit before beginning your descent to Mweka Camp. On your way down from Uhuru, savor the captivating vistas of the mountain, crater, clouds, and glaciers. Back at Barafu Camp, enjoy a well-deserved breakfast and a brief respite. You still have three to five hours of hiking before reaching Mweka Camp.
