7 Days Tanzania Road Safari to Nyerere Mikumi and Udzungwa Parks

Depart Dar es Salaam at approximately 6:00 AM and begin the road journey south toward Nyerere. Watch the landscape change gradually as the city gives way to smaller towns, villages and rural countryside. Arrive in the early afternoon, enjoy lunch and begin a game drive around 3:00 PM. Search for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and other wildlife until approximately 6:00 PM, then transfer to your midrange lodge.

After breakfast, enter Nyerere around 7:00 AM for a complete day of game viewing. Explore several different habitats, stopping for wildlife, birdlife and scenic viewpoints as the guide selects routes according to current conditions. Lunch is taken around midday, followed by additional exploration during the afternoon. Return to your accommodation in the late afternoon.

Begin another wildlife day at approximately 6:30 to 7:00 AM. The objective is to cover new sections of the park rather than repeat the same circuit. Spend time around water sources, woodland, grassland and other productive habitats while looking for large mammals and predators. Stop for lunch and continue until around 5:00 PM, then return for dinner.

Leave Nyerere after breakfast at around 7:00 AM and travel by road toward Mikumi. The journey is part of the experience, providing views of rural landscapes and everyday life away from the main cities. Once in Mikumi, have lunch and enter the park around 3:00 PM. Explore until sunset before heading to your midrange accommodation.

After breakfast, start the day's game drive at approximately 7:00 AM. Explore the Mkata plains and other productive sections of Mikumi, watching for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, antelopes and predators. Stop for a picnic lunch around midday and continue through the afternoon. Return to the lodge around 5:30 PM.

Leave Mikumi at around 7:00 AM and make the relatively short road journey toward Udzungwa. After arrival and registration, begin a guided forest walk with a local guide. Spend the day discovering mountain vegetation, monkeys, birds, butterflies, streams and waterfall areas depending on the selected route. Finish during the afternoon and continue by road to your midrange accommodation.
