Starting from the Shira Plateau, your journey takes you to Lava Tower at approximately 4640 meters, where you'll take a rest before continuing through the Barranco Valley. The Barranco Camp at 3960 meters is your destination for the day, and the trek will take around 6 to 7 hours. The alpine desert and the Barranco Valley's unique vegetation, adorned with small lobelia plants and giant senecio's, make this part of the trek truly special.

The trek to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5895 meters, begins at midnight. After a wake-up call and some tea and biscuits, you'll ascend for around 5 to 7 hours until reaching Stella Point, the crater rim of Kilimanjaro. Another 1 to 2 hours of trekking will bring you to Uhuru Peak, where you'll witness a breathtaking sunrise, a memory to cherish forever. The descent back to Barafu Camp takes 1 to 2 hours, where the rest of the mountain team welcomes you with snacks and refreshments. After a short break, you'll head to Mweka Camp, your last night on the mountain.
