Day 4: Rise above Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Fear not, it's easier than it appears. Venture higher, just shy of the Heim Glacier, and then descend through the Karanga Valley. This marks your porters' final water collection point, as you settle into Karanga Camp (13,780 ft/4,200m). After a hearty lunch, the afternoon beckons for gentle exploration or rest, amid awe-inspiring vistas of Mawenzi's majestic spires.

Day 5: Traverse from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Here, your tent perches on a rocky ridge. Explore camp before nightfall, keeping your headlamp close for after-dark ventures. Day 6: SUMMIT DAY! From Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Your epic ascent to Uhuru Peak (19,340 ft/5,895 m) begins, a grueling 6-hour trek through scree, switchbacks flanked by Ratzel and Rebmann glaciers. Stella Point (18,650 ft/5,685 m) marks a significant achievement and, if time allows, an awe-inspiring sunrise. Battling fatigue and bitter cold, press on along the Marangu Route's last leg, 1-2 hours to Uhuru Peak. Congrats, you're on the Roof of Africa! Capture memories with the iconic Uhuru Peak sign, but the descent beckons for Barafu rest. Descend 3 hours on sliding scree to Barafu before continuing to Mweka, shrouded in forest. Prepare for rain; keep rain gear close. Savor dinner and well-deserved sleep. Mweka Camp offers refreshing amenities: bottled water, soft drinks, candy bars, and beer.

Day 7: Final Descent from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

After a hearty breakfast, embark on a breathtaking 3-hour trek through scenic terrain. Ensure all your gear reaches the gate before tipping your dedicated staff. Post registration, collect your summit certificates (green for Stella Point, gold for Uhuru Peak achievers). From the gate, if the road's too muddy, enjoy an extra hour's trek to Mweka Village, 3km away. There, a hot lunch awaits, fueling you for the drive back to Moshi town. Rejoice in a well-deserved hot shower â€“ a refreshing end to your epic Kilimanjaro journey!
