This 8-day Kenya midrange photographic safari connects Masai Mara National Reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli National Park. The journey gives photographers two full days in Masai Mara, excellent opportunities to photograph rhinos and birds at Lake Nakuru, peaceful lakeside scenes at Naivasha and large elephant herds beneath Mount Kilimanjaro in Amboseli. You will travel in a customised safari vehicle with our experienced guide, who will provide reasonable time at sightings and position the vehicle responsibly for clearer viewing angles. Comfortable midrange lodges and tented camps make the safari suitable for beginners, professional photographers and wildlife enthusiasts

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara

Nairobi to Masai Mara

Your Kenya midrange photographic safari begins with pickup from your Nairobi hotel, residence or airport between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Our guide will take you through the Great Rift Valley and Narok before reaching Masai Mara, a distance of approximately 280 to 300 kilometres completed in about 5½ to 6½ hours. You will check into your midrange camp, have lunch and relax before an afternoon game drive of approximately 2½ to 3 hours. You may photograph giraffes, elephants, zebras, antelopes and predators against the wide savannah landscape before returning for dinner.

Day 2: Full-Day Masai Mara Photographic Safari

Full-Day Masai Mara Photographic Safari

After an early breakfast, you will begin a full-day Kenya photographic safari across Masai Mara. The game drive normally lasts 8 to 10 hours and may cover between 80 and 150 kilometres, depending on wildlife movements. Our guide will explore open plains, acacia woodland and river areas while searching for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants and buffaloes. A picnic lunch will be served at an authorised site, allowing more time for photography during the best wildlife hours.

Day 3: Full-Day Masai Mara Photography Experience

Full-Day Masai Mara Photography Experience

Your safari will continue with another full day inside Masai Mara, giving you a second opportunity to revisit productive wildlife areas or explore quieter sections of the reserve. You may travel approximately 70 to 140 kilometres during 8 to 10 hours of photography and wildlife viewing. Our guide will focus on animal behaviour, morning light, predator territories and large herbivore herds. During migration months, wildebeests and zebras may be present, although specific river crossings cannot be guaranteed.

Day 4: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru

Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru

After breakfast and lodge check-out, your Kenya photographic safari will continue to Lake Nakuru National Park. The road distance is approximately 260 kilometres, and the journey normally takes 5 to 6½ hours. After arriving for lunch and check-in, you will begin an afternoon game drive of approximately 3 hours, covering about 30 to 50 kilometres. You may photograph black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, baboons, waterbucks and numerous birds around the lake and woodland.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha

Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha

You will have breakfast before enjoying a morning wildlife drive in Lake Nakuru lasting approximately 2½ to 3 hours. After exploring the lakeshore, Baboon Cliff, woodland and rhino-viewing areas, you will travel approximately 80 kilometres to Lake Naivasha in about 1½ to 2 hours. After lunch and check-in, your photographic journey may include an optional boat ride to capture hippos, fish eagles, pelicans and kingfishers. A Crescent Island walk may also be arranged.

Following an early breakfast, you will check out and travel approximately 320 kilometres from Lake Naivasha to Amboseli National Park. The journey normally takes 6 to 7 hours, including traffic around Nairobi and scheduled refreshment stops. Lunch will be served en route or after arrival. If time permits, you will enjoy a short afternoon Kenya photographic safari in Amboseli, photographing elephants, giraffes, zebras and possible views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Full-Day Amboseli Photographic Safari

After breakfast, your safari will continue with approximately 7 to 9 hours of game viewing in Amboseli, covering between 60 and 120 kilometres. Early morning may provide clearer views of Mount Kilimanjaro, creating excellent opportunities to photograph elephants beneath the mountain. Our guide will explore permanent marshes, open plains, woodland and seasonal lake areas in search of elephants, lions, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, hippos and birds.

After breakfast and check-out, you may enjoy a short morning photography drive when your travel schedule allows. You will then travel approximately 240 kilometres to Nairobi in about 4 to 5 hours, excluding heavy traffic. Our guide will drop you at your Nairobi hotel, residence, Wilson Airport or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, marking the end of your Kenya midrange photographic safari.
