8 Days Kenya Midrange Solo Traveller Safari: Masai Mara, Naivasha and Amboseli

Your solo traveller safari begins with pickup from your Nairobi hotel or airport between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. After meeting our guide, you will travel approximately 280 to 300 kilometres to Masai Mara in about 5½ to 6½ hours. Our journey will pass through the Great Rift Valley and Narok, with planned comfort and refreshment stops. After checking into your midrange lodge or camp, you will enjoy lunch and relaxation before an afternoon game drive of approximately 2½ to 3 hours. You may encounter giraffes, elephants, zebras and predators before returning for dinner.

After breakfast, you will explore Masai Mara for approximately 8 to 10 hours, covering between 80 and 150 kilometres depending on wildlife movements. Our guide will help you search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes and large plains-game herds. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed inside the reserve. Guests booking a private solo safari may decide how long to remain at sightings, while shared departures follow an agreed group schedule.

Your Kenya solo traveller safari continues with another full day in Masai Mara, allowing you to explore different wildlife areas and improve your chances of observing predators and animal behaviour. You may travel approximately 70 to 140 kilometres during 8 to 10 hours of wildlife viewing. Our guide can also assist in taking photographs of you when it is safe and practical. Lunch will be served at a designated picnic location.

After breakfast and check-out, you will travel approximately 260 kilometres to Lake Nakuru. The road journey normally takes 5 to 6½ hours, with comfort and refreshment stops. After arrival, lunch and lodge check-in, you will begin an afternoon game drive lasting approximately 3 hours. You may see black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, baboons, zebras and waterbirds before returning to the lodge.

After breakfast, you will enjoy a morning Lake Nakuru game drive lasting around 2½ to 3 hours. You will then check out and travel approximately 80 kilometres to Lake Naivasha in 1½ to 2 hours. After lunch and lodge check-in, you may join an optional shared or private boat ride lasting approximately 1 to 1½ hours. You may observe hippos, fish eagles, pelicans and kingfishers or spend the afternoon relaxing independently at the lodge.

Following an early breakfast, your solo safari will continue approximately 320 kilometres to Amboseli. The transfer normally takes 6 to 7 hours, depending on road conditions and Nairobi traffic. Our guide will arrange suitable stops during the journey, while lunch will be served en route or at the lodge. After check-in, you may relax or join a short afternoon game drive lasting around 2 hours.

After breakfast, you will explore Amboseli for approximately 7 to 9 hours, covering between 60 and 120 kilometres. Our guide will take you through the park’s wetlands, open plains and woodland while searching for elephants, lions, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras and hippos. Mount Kilimanjaro may be visible during clear morning weather. A picnic lunch will be served inside the park or lunch may be taken at the lodge.

After breakfast, you will check out and begin the approximately 240-kilometre return journey to Nairobi, which takes about 4 to 5 hours. Our guide will provide direct drop-off at your hotel, private residence, Wilson Airport or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, allowing you to complete your solo journey without arranging additional transport.
