8 Days Luxury Kenya Wildlife Photography Safari from Maasai Mara to Amboseli

Your professional driver-guide will collect you from your Nairobi hotel, private residence, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or Wilson Airport between approximately 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM. After a personal safari briefing and assistance with your camera equipment, you will travel through the Great Rift Valley, where an authorised scenic stop may be arranged for landscape photography when weather and timing permit. The journey continues through agricultural highlands, rural towns and Maasai pastoral country before arrival at your luxury lodge or tented camp. After check-in, lunch and a short rest, you will begin an afternoon photography drive. After an early breakfast, you will depart between approximately 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM with a picnic lunch and photography equipment prepared for a complete field day. Your guide will select routes according to recent wildlife activity, light direction, road access and your preferred subjects. Possible opportunities include lion-pride interactions, cheetahs scanning for prey, elephants travelling with calves, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeest, zebras, hyenas, jackals and vultures. The guide will position the vehicle responsibly, allowing natural behaviour to continue without blocking animal movement. Lunch will be enjoyed at an authorised picnic site before afternoon photography continues through another section of the reserve. You will return to the lodge in the late afternoon to back up photographs, charge equipment and enjoy dinner.

The second full photography day gives you an opportunity to return to a productive sighting or explore habitats that were not covered during the previous safari. After breakfast, you may travel toward riverine areas for hippos, crocodiles, kingfishers, herons and elephants or search wooded drainage lines for leopards and resting lions. The day may also concentrate on environmental portraits, bird photography, animal silhouettes, storm clouds and wide savannah landscapes. A picnic lunch or lodge-based midday break can be arranged according to the location of your accommodation and photography priorities. The additional Mara day reduces pressure to rush and improves the opportunity to work with changing light, weather and wildlife behaviour.

After breakfast, you will check out and travel toward Lake Nakuru through Maasai pastoral areas, farming regions, highland towns and changing Great Rift Valley scenery. Your guide will arrange safe photography, refreshment, lunch and washroom stops along the route. The journey provides opportunities to capture rural landscapes, roadside environments and the transition from open savannah to greener highland country. After arrival at your luxury Lake Nakuru accommodation, you will check in and spend the remainder of the afternoon resting, organising equipment, charging batteries and preparing for the following morning’s rhino and woodland photography experience. An additional afternoon game drive is possible only when arrival time, park-entry arrangements and lodge location permit it.

Following an early breakfast, you will begin a three-to-four-hour Lake Nakuru photography drive through woodland, grassland and lakeshore environments. Possible subjects include white or black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, baboons, zebras, waterbucks, pelicans, cormorants and flamingos when natural conditions are favourable. Your guide will search for clean backgrounds and suitable light while maintaining responsible distance from wildlife. After completing the activity, you will return for lodge check-out and lunch before travelling to Lake Naivasha. Your morning may begin with a boat photography safari lasting approximately one to one and a half hours when the activity is included in the confirmed package. Possible subjects include hippos from a responsible distance, African fish eagles, pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers and calm freshwater reflections. After returning to the lodge, you will have breakfast or complete check-out before beginning the journey to Amboseli. The road passes agricultural areas, Nairobi’s outer regions and the increasingly open landscapes of southern Kenya. Lunch, refreshment, photography and comfort stops will be arranged along the way. You will normally arrive at your luxury Amboseli lodge in the late afternoon or early evening, allowing time to check in, recharge equipment and prepare for the following day’s full photography safari.
