Celebrate on an 8-day premium Christmas and New Year Kenya safari through Bogoria, Nakuru, Maasai Mara, Naivasha and Amboseli.
This 8-day premium Christmas and New Year Kenya safari combines festive hospitality with wildlife adventures in Lake Bogoria, Lake Nakuru, Maasai Mara, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli. The private road journey offers geothermal scenery, seasonal birds, rhino habitats, savannah game drives, a lakeside retreat and elephant viewing beneath the Kilimanjaro landscape. Depending on your selected dates, a Christmas lunch, Christmas dinner or New Year celebration may be requested at one of the premium lodges. Festive meals, decorations, entertainment and countdown events vary by property and are included only after written confirmation. December and early January are popular travel periods, making early accommodation and transport booking essential.
Holiday Welcome
Our guide will collect you from JKIA or a confirmed Nairobi hotel between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. Begin the 270–300 km road journey through the central highlands, Nakuru and Marigat. Driving takes 5–6½ hours excluding lunch, seasonal traffic and comfort stops. Festive-period road traffic can be heavier, so punctual departure is important.
Bogoria Holiday Evening
After lunch and check-in, explore accessible sections of Lake Bogoria around 3:30 p.m. Discover geothermal landscapes, escarpment scenery and seasonal waterbirds. Flamingo numbers change naturally and cannot be guaranteed. Remain on approved ground near hot springs. Return before darkness to enjoy dinner at your premium accommodation. Festive decorations, special menus or welcome drinks depend on the selected property and must appear in the confirmed booking.
Peaceful Festive Morning
Breakfast begins around 6:00 a.m., followed by an optional early visit to Lake Bogoria. Enjoy the cooler atmosphere, geothermal steam and changing morning light before holiday visitors arrive. Our guide will search for birds and other wildlife while maintaining responsible distances. Return and check out around 9:00 a.m.
Nakuru Wildlife Celebration
Travel 110–130 km through Marigat, taking 2½–3½ hours excluding lunch and seasonal road delays. Settle into your premium Lake Nakuru accommodation and begin a game drive around 3:30 p.m. Search for rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, antelopes, baboons and birds among the lake, woodland and grassland habitats. Return near sunset for dinner. A Christmas meal or festive evening is provided only where it has been confirmed by the lodge.
Festive Wildlife Morning
Begin an early game drive around 6:30 a.m. Cooler conditions may reveal wildlife around open clearings, woodland margins and lake viewpoints. Enjoy the natural experience without expecting Christmas crowds or celebrations to change animal behaviour. Return for breakfast and check out between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m.
Premium Mara Arrival
Travel 230–270 km through Mau Narok or another suitable route, requiring 5–6½ hours excluding lunch and road conditions. Arrive in Maasai Mara, settle into your premium camp or lodge and rest. A short game drive may start around 4:00 p.m. when daylight permits. Search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes and predators before returning near sunset for dinner and festive hospitality.
Holiday Savannah Experience
After breakfast around 6:00 a.m., depart between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. Explore grasslands, riverine vegetation and seasonal waterways according to wildlife movement. Possible sightings include lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hyenas, antelopes and birds. Wildlife sightings remain natural and cannot be arranged specifically for the festive season.
Celebration in the Mara
Enjoy a picnic or specially arranged lodge lunch between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Continue the afternoon safari or return for a confirmed festive program, depending on the selected accommodation and date. Christmas entertainment, cake, sparkling drinks and cultural performances must never be assumed unless listed in writing. Return by approximately 6:00 p.m. for dinner, relaxation and a memorable holiday evening in the wilderness.
Final Mara Morning
A short morning drive may begin around 6:30 a.m. when entry arrangements allow. Enjoy another opportunity to watch savannah wildlife under the softer morning light. Return for breakfast and check out between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. Holiday demand can affect meal-service schedules, so the guide will confirm the day’s lunch plan before departure.
Naivasha Holiday Stay
Drive 220–250 km through Narok and Mai Mahiu, taking 4½–6 hours excluding lunch, holiday traffic and comfort stops. Arrive at Lake Naivasha during the afternoon and settle into your premium lakeside accommodation. Enjoy approved lodge grounds and festive surroundings. Do not approach the shoreline after dark because hippos may enter unfenced properties. Dinner is generally served around 7:30 p.m., with special menus available only after confirmation.
Optional Holiday Boat Trip
After breakfast around 6:30 a.m., take an optional 60–90-minute boat excursion. Life jackets are compulsory, and the captain will assess wind and water conditions. Fish eagles, pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, herons and hippos may be observed. Festive demand can reduce last-minute availability, so the boat should be reserved in advance.
Journey to Amboseli
Travel 330–370 km through Mai Mahiu, Nairobi’s outskirts and Emali, requiring 6–8 hours excluding lunch, holiday traffic and comfort stops. Arrive during the late afternoon and check into your premium lodge or camp. Enjoy a short game drive only when daylight and entry arrangements permit. Otherwise, relax and enjoy dinner while preparing for the following day’s festive Amboseli experience.
Christmas beneath Kilimanjaro
Depart between 6:15 and 6:30 a.m. after an early breakfast arrangement. Clear conditions may reveal Mount Kilimanjaro, but cloud cover remains unpredictable. Explore wetlands, woodland and open plains while searching for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, predators and birds. The peaceful wildlife experience remains the day’s central attraction.
Festive Safari Afternoon
Lunch is served between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. at the lodge or an authorized picnic location. Continue wildlife viewing or return to the accommodation for a confirmed festive program. Decorations, entertainment, cakes and special drinks depend on the property and package selected. Return from the game drive between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. for dinner and your final holiday evening in Kenya’s wilderness.
Final Holiday Sunrise
A short game drive may begin around 6:30 a.m. when the Nairobi schedule permits. Enjoy one last opportunity to see elephants, birds and changing light across the plains. Return for breakfast and complete check-out between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. Confirm that gifts, travel documents and personal belongings are packed securely.
Return to Nairobi
Travel 200–240 km through Emali to Nairobi, taking 4–5½ hours excluding lunch, festive traffic and comfort stops. Drop-off is available at JKIA, Wilson Airport or a confirmed Nairobi hotel. Holiday traffic can be unpredictable, so international flights should be scheduled for late evening or the following day. An extra Nairobi overnight is particularly valuable during Christmas and New Year travel periods.

4. Will the lodges organize entertainment?
Some properties arrange music, decorations or special dinners, while others offer a quieter experience. No event should be assumed without written confirmation.
5. Are festive-season prices higher?
Many properties apply peak-season rates or compulsory supplements. The final quotation should clearly identify all confirmed holiday charges.
6. Can children receive Christmas gifts?
Parents may bring gifts, or a simple arrangement may be requested from the lodge. Availability, cost and delivery details must be confirmed in advance.
7. Is wildlife viewing different during the holidays?
Wildlife continues to move naturally regardless of the celebration. Observation depends on habitat, weather, season and chance rather than the calendar event.
8. Can a private family celebration be arranged?
Yes, subject to lodge facilities and additional cost. Cakes, decorations, private tables and drinks should be requested early.
1. Does the safari operate on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day?
It can operate on public holidays when transport, accommodation and park arrangements are confirmed. Holiday availability should be secured early.
2. Is a Christmas dinner included?
An eight-day tour may cover both dates when the arrival day is selected correctly. Accommodation availability and pricing must be checked before confirmation.
9. How early should we book?
Booking several months ahead is strongly recommended because premium rooms, family units, guides and safari vehicles sell quickly during this period.
10. Should we book a flight on the final afternoon?
No tight connection is recommended. Holiday road and airport traffic can create delays, making a late-evening flight or extra hotel night safer.
