Enjoy an 8-day premium senior-friendly safari from Nairobi with comfortable travel through Maasai Mara, Nakuru, Naivasha and Amboseli.
This 8-day premium safari for seniors from Nairobi combines Kenya’s leading wildlife destinations with private transport, comfortable accommodation and a thoughtfully managed daily pace. The journey explores Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli while allowing planned meal breaks, reasonable comfort stops and assistance with ordinary luggage. Our guide can adjust the duration of private game drives when park logistics permit, but guests should understand that the itinerary includes several long road transfers and uneven vehicle access. Ground-floor rooms, walking aids, accessible bathrooms, dietary requirements and refrigerated medication storage must be requested and confirmed individually. The package is designed for independent older travellers and does not include nursing, personal care or medical supervision.
Comfortable Morning Departure
Our guide will meet you at JKIA or a confirmed Nairobi hotel between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. Luggage assistance is provided, but guests requiring lifting or personal mobility support must arrange it in advance. Travel 255–300 km through the Great Rift Valley and Narok, taking 5½–7 hours excluding lunch, traffic and planned comfort stops.
Gentle Introduction to the Mara
Arrive for lunch or enjoy a meal along the route before checking into your premium accommodation. After resting, join a game drive around 3:30 p.m. when you feel comfortable. Search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and antelopes while remaining seated during vehicle movement. Return around sunset for dinner. Request lodge escort assistance after dark and keep prescribed medication accessible rather than inside checked luggage.
Cooler Morning Safari
Breakfast is served around 6:00 a.m., followed by departure between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. The early start uses cooler conditions when animals may be active. Explore grasslands and riverine habitats for lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and zebras. Tell the guide immediately if the vehicle temperature, seating or road movement becomes uncomfortable.
Rest and Afternoon Wildlife
A picnic lunch can be arranged between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m., but guests preferring easier facilities may request a lodge-based schedule where location and park access make this practical. Continue the afternoon drive or take a longer rest before another activity. Private arrangements offer flexibility without guaranteeing that every drive can be shortened. Return before 6:00 p.m. for dinner and a relaxed evening.
Wildlife without Rushing
Depart around 6:30 a.m. after breakfast or select a later private start when the revised plan has been agreed upon. Explore a different area of Maasai Mara while searching for predators, elephants, hippos, antelopes and birds. Our guide avoids unnecessarily rough tracks when alternatives are available, although natural park roads can remain uneven.
Personal Comfort and Observation
Lunch is served at approximately 1:00 p.m. at an authorized site or the lodge, depending on the planned route. Regular hydration is important even during cooler weather, but guests with medical fluid restrictions should follow professional advice. Continue wildlife viewing at a comfortable pace and return before 6:00 p.m. Lodge staff can assist with ordinary luggage preparation, while medication, documents and valuables remain the guest’s responsibility.
Relaxed Check-Out
A short early game drive is optional when the group feels comfortable. Otherwise, enjoy breakfast without rushing and complete check-out between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. Confirm that glasses, hearing devices, walking aids, medication and chargers are packed before leaving. The guide will explain the day’s lunch and washroom stops.
Highland Road Journey
Travel 230–270 km through Narok and Mau Narok, requiring 5–6½ hours excluding lunch and road conditions. Safe comfort stops are included, although accessible facilities may be limited outside major towns. Arrive near Lake Nakuru during the late afternoon and settle into your premium accommodation. Ground-floor or accessible rooms are subject to prior written confirmation. Enjoy dinner and rest before the following morning’s wildlife drive.
Easy-Paced Nakuru Safari
Enter Lake Nakuru National Park around 6:30 a.m. for approximately 3–4 hours. Wildlife can often be viewed from the vehicle without long walking activities. Search woodland, open ground and lakeshore areas for rhinos, buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, baboons, antelopes and birds. Sightings remain unpredictable, and bumpy sections should be expected.
Short Transfer to Naivasha
After breakfast or brunch, travel 75–100 km to Lake Naivasha, taking 1½–2½ hours. Check into your premium lakeside accommodation and rest. A boat trip is optional and suitable only for guests who can board safely with the available assistance. Life jackets are compulsory, and the captain’s decision is final. Guests who prefer not to participate can relax within designated lodge areas.
Calm Morning at the Lake
Breakfast starts around 6:30 a.m. Enjoy a confirmed boat activity or use the morning for rest before the longest transfer. Guests requiring temperature-controlled medication must confirm suitable storage with the operator and each property before travel. Medical supplies should remain clearly labelled and accompanied by relevant documentation.
Road to Amboseli
Travel 310–360 km through Mai Mahiu, Nairobi’s outskirts and Emali, requiring 6–8 hours excluding lunch, traffic and comfort stops. The guide schedules breaks at practical locations, but road conditions can extend the day. Support stockings, cushions or other personal comfort equipment should be discussed with a healthcare professional before travel. Arrive in the late afternoon and settle into premium Amboseli accommodation before dinner.
Early Wildlife and Kilimanjaro
Depart between 6:15 and 6:30 a.m. after breakfast, or agree on a later start if the private schedule allows. Clear conditions may reveal Mount Kilimanjaro, although clouds remain unpredictable. Explore plains, woodland and wetlands while searching for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and birds.
Flexible Afternoon Program
Lunch is served between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Depending on lodge location and entry arrangements, you may continue the full-day drive or return for rest before another shorter activity. Walking is not required for ordinary game viewing, but getting into the safari vehicle may involve steps. Return by approximately 6:00 p.m. for dinner, medication routines and a calm final evening in the wilderness.
Easy Final Morning
A short game drive may begin around 6:30 a.m. for guests who feel rested and have sufficient time. Alternatively, enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the lodge. Complete check-out between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m., ensuring medication, mobility equipment, documents and personal items are accounted for before departure.
Direct Nairobi Drop-Off
Drive 200–240 km through Emali, taking 4–5½ hours excluding lunch, traffic and comfort stops. The guide will provide agreed breaks and direct assistance with ordinary luggage. Drop-off is arranged at JKIA, Wilson Airport or a confirmed Nairobi hotel. A late-evening flight or additional Nairobi night is recommended because road delays and airport procedures can create pressure when connections are too tight.
