Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu – Your Private Safari Begins

Nairobi to Samburu – Your Private Safari Begins

Personal Nairobi Collection
Your private guide will collect you from JKIA, Wilson Airport or a confirmed Nairobi hotel between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. Travel 310–350 km through Thika, Karatina, Nanyuki and Isiolo in 5½–7 hours excluding traffic, lunch and comfort stops. The private format allows reasonable stops without following another traveller’s schedule, subject to safe parking and road conditions.

First Northern Safari
After check-in and lunch, leave at approximately 3:30 p.m. for a 2–2½-hour Samburu game drive. Discuss your interests with the guide, whether they involve elephants, northern specialist species, landscapes or photography. Possible sightings include Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks and Beisa oryx. Return around sunset for dinner. Lodge staff will explain escort procedures for walking between your room and public areas.

Day 2: Samburu – A Safari at Your Own Pace

Samburu – A Safari at Your Own Pace

Private River Exploration
Breakfast begins around 6:00 a.m., with departure between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. Explore riverine woodland, open scrub and rocky hills around the Ewaso Nyiro ecosystem. Because the vehicle is private, you can remain longer at productive sightings or move on when an area becomes crowded. The guide will maintain all reserve rules and responsible viewing distances.

Rest or Continued Discovery
Return for lunch between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. and choose a reasonable rest period before departing again at approximately 3:30 p.m. Search for elephants, buffaloes, birds and predators as temperatures become cooler. Wildlife remains unpredictable, and flexibility cannot guarantee a particular animal. Return between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. for dinner and a review of the day’s observations.

Personal medication, cameras and electronic devices should remain in a small bag accessible inside the vehicle.

Guided Rift Valley Transfer
Travel 330–360 km through Isiolo, Nanyuki and the Nyahururu region, taking 6–8 hours excluding lunch and road delays. Your guide will arrange safe comfort stops and remain your primary contact throughout the transfer. Arrive at the selected premium Lake Nakuru accommodation during the late afternoon or evening. Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha – Rhinos and Lakeside Calm

Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha – Rhinos and Lakeside Calm

Private Rhino Search
Enter Lake Nakuru National Park at approximately 6:30 a.m. for a 3–4-hour drive. Search woodland, grassland and lakeshore areas for rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, baboons and waterbirds. You may request additional time for photography when road and park conditions permit. Flamingo concentrations vary naturally and should never be guaranteed.

Lake Naivasha Experience
After breakfast or brunch, drive 75–100 km to Lake Naivasha in 1½–2½ hours. Check in and join a confirmed 60–90-minute boat excursion, which may be shared with other travellers unless private operation is purchased. Wear a life jacket and follow the captain’s instructions. Fish eagles, pelicans, cormorants and hippos may be observed. Return before sunset for dinner at the premium lodge.

Lake Naivasha to Maasai Mara – Solo Journey to the Plains

Quiet Lakeside Start
Breakfast is available from approximately 6:30 a.m. Enjoy approved lodge grounds, organize photographs or complete a scheduled boat excursion before checking out between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. Your guide will confirm the day’s route, lunch arrangements and Mara arrival. Solo travellers should keep emergency contacts and accommodation details accessible.

Private Mara Introduction
Travel 220–260 km through Mai Mahiu and Narok, requiring 4½–6½ hours excluding lunch and road conditions. After checking into your premium property, depart at approximately 3:30 p.m. for an introductory Maasai Mara drive. Search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and predators before returning around sunset. Enjoy dinner and discuss your preferred program for the next two days.

Day 6: Maasai Mara – Your Personal Wildlife Priorities

Maasai Mara – Your Personal Wildlife Priorities

Early Savannah Search
Depart between 6:15 and 6:30 a.m. after breakfast or with packed meals. Tell the guide whether you prefer predators, birdlife, landscapes or patient photographic observation. The private vehicle provides flexibility, but reserve regulations, animal welfare and road conditions determine where it can travel. Lions, cheetahs and leopards may be encountered but cannot be promised.

Unhurried Mara Exploration
Lunch is served around 1:00 p.m. at an authorized picnic site. Continue across grassland, riverine woodland and seasonal waterways, allowing time to observe behaviour rather than collecting rushed sightings. Migration activity depends on rainfall, grass and animal movement. Return between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. for dinner. Use lodge escorts whenever required after dark.

Maasai Mara – A Second Personalized Safari Day

Routes Chosen for You
Leave at approximately 6:30 a.m. for another complete safari day. Your guide will use the previous day’s experience to select a different Mara sector or revisit an area when wildlife activity justifies it. Possible observations include elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes and birds of prey. Sightings remain entirely natural.

Final Solo Safari Evening
Enjoy lunch between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. at a picnic site or lodge. Continue until approximately 5:30 p.m., taking breaks at permitted locations. Return for your final Maasai Mara dinner and organize luggage for Nairobi. The guide will reconfirm transfer arrangements, your hotel or airport terminal and the timing required for an international departure.

Last Mara Observations
When the transfer schedule permits, enjoy a short game drive at approximately 6:30 a.m. Return for breakfast and check out between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. Inspect charging points, bathroom shelves, the vehicle and luggage area carefully because solo travellers are solely responsible for verifying their personal belongings.

Private Nairobi Drop-off
Travel 255–300 km through Narok and the Great Rift Valley in 5–6½ hours excluding lunch, road conditions and city traffic. Your guide will deliver you to JKIA, Wilson Airport or a confirmed Nairobi hotel. International flights should be scheduled for late evening. The solo journey concludes with private support and wildlife experiences across four contrasting destinations.

RELATED FAQS ABOUT 8 Days Premium Solo Kenya Safari from Nairobi

    1. Is Kenya suitable for a solo safari traveller?

A professionally organized private safari can suit solo travellers well because transport, accommodation and daily activities are coordinated in advance. Guests should still follow guide instructions, avoid unplanned independent walks in wildlife areas and keep emergency contacts accessible.

    2. Will I have a private vehicle and guide?

Yes, when private operation is confirmed in the quotation. Your guide remains with you during the road circuit and game drives. Boat trips, dining areas and optional lodge activities may be shared with other guests.

    3. Do solo travellers pay a supplement?

Most lodges price rooms according to occupancy, so a single-room supplement may apply. Vehicle and guiding costs are also carried by one traveller rather than being divided among several guests. The quotation should show all solo costs transparently.

    4. Can I choose how long to remain at a sighting?

The private format provides considerable flexibility, but the guide must consider reserve regulations, closing times, safety, other vehicles and animal welfare. No request can justify blocking an animal or driving in a prohibited area.

    5. Will I eat alone at the lodges?

You may request a private table or join communal dining where the property offers it. Arrangements vary by lodge. Staff can explain available dining formats, but interaction with other guests should never be assumed or forced.

    6. How is my safety managed at unfenced camps?

Wild animals may move through unfenced properties. Follow every escort instruction, keep doors secured and never walk alone after dark when an escort is required. Do not leave food outside your room or approach wildlife for photographs.

    7. Can a female traveller book this safari alone?

Yes. Female solo travellers can request additional information about the guide, accommodation security and arrival arrangements before booking. Professional boundaries, clearly identified staff and confirmed transfers should remain in place throughout the journey.

    8. Can I customize the itinerary around photography or birdwatching?

Reasonable adjustments can be made before accommodation is confirmed. Major changes may affect driving times, park fees or lodge availability. Share equipment requirements and target interests early so the vehicle and guide can be selected appropriately.

    9. Who should I contact during an emergency?

You will receive the tour operator’s primary contact, the guide’s number and accommodation information. Keep these details both electronically and on paper. Comprehensive travel insurance should include medical treatment, evacuation, cancellation and luggage protection.

    10. Can another traveller join after I book?

A second traveller may be added when vehicle capacity, room availability and park bookings permit. The price must be recalculated, and the revised arrangements should be confirmed in writing before arrival.
